The Gelmarc Towers is one of the gems of the Kalorama neighborhood. We lived on the 8th floor for almost 4 years and loved it. It may be an old building from the outside, but once inside you can't beat the size of the units and the beautiful old wood flooring. The building manager was absolutely amazing (though she has a new job now) and she was always attentive and willing to respond to problems very quickly. There is just no way to get an apartment this size, in this location (between Dupont and Adams Morgan), for this price. When we finally did decide to move out, we looked at everything in the neighborhood, and while other buildings may have more modern amenities, the units are much smaller and cost a lot more. If you are just moving to DC and want to be in the perfect location (or if you just want a big aparment for the price), then this is the place for you. There may be some minor problems, but if you are nice to the staff and the building manager you can get them fixed asap. Parking in the neighborhood is difficult, but that is unavoidable in this area. Get on the waiting list for a parking spot right away. We had one and it made our lives so much easier. There may be some street noise but you live in a city so what do you expect. Stick to the back of the building if its that big of a problem for you. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone. The only reason we left the building is that we got a dog and the building doesn't allow pets. Other than that this place is great.
