After researching numerous apartments, I decided to move into the Hamilton House due to the great location and fair prices (for the neighborhood).

Location: The location has to be the best in DC! It is technically in Dupont but is also within walking distance of Foggy Bottom and Georgetown. As a graduate student at GWU, I found that it was a perfect distance from campus (close enough to walk but far enough to have some distance). As close as it is to major attractions (e.g., bars, restaurants, etc.) it feels as though it is in a quiet, safe residential area.

Safety: When I moved down to DC, safety was my top priority. After reviewing several neighborhoods, this one felt the safest to me. One of the nicest aspects of the HH is the 24 hour security desk. I know other friends that had a call system set up never felt safe because people always let others in that they did not know. This isn't a concern in the HH. I recall one evening where a friend and I were followed home from Dupont by a stranger. Although he was probably harmless, the security guard at the front desk picked up on the issue right away and intercepted at the door!

Maintenance: Overall, I found that the staff is wonderful. I remember one time a light bulb blew out in my apartment and they came right up to replace the bulb. I was surprised because I assumed that this would be the tenant's responsibility but they took care of it for me. They were always extremely attentive to any concerns that I had.

Atmosphere: The tenants are a nice combination of students, young professionals and older professionals within the community. The pool is one of the most spacious and well-maintained pools that I have seen in the city.

Overall: I have recommended this apartment building to many of my friends over the years.

Downsides: They are limited in the number of two bedroom apartments that they have available. Also, they do not allow pets in the building. If it wasn't for these reasons, I would never have moved out!
