Excellent value, excellent location

I have lived here for 6 years now, and I do love it. The apartments are all huge, with solariums and dining rooms and 10 foot ceilings. It's warm and comfortable, and the residents are for the most part friendly (mostly young, urban professional types). Rent control keeps the rent from getting astronomical if you stay for a while. I pay extra for a parking space in the basement garage, and it's the best money I've ever spent, since I keep fairly erratic hours. Otherwise, street parking is okay if you're home by 7. The metro is only 3 blocks away, and restaurants, a CVS and a Safeway are a very, very short walk. The lighting on the street was improved a few years back and it's generally pretty safe at night. You can't beat the 2 block walk to the zoo! Our pets are welcome here. One of the only drawbacks is that our unit has very, very little closet space. I know that other units in the building have much larger and more plentiful closets, though. Another drawback would be that our unit faces in on the interior courtyard. While this is great because we don't have to listen to noise on the street or trash trucks, it can be pretty loud when another apartment that faces into the courtyard decides to have a party. The sounds carry. The 24 hour desk staff will be pretty quick to make a phone call to the offending residents to ask them to turn the volume down, though. There have been little issues over the years that are hardly worth noting, such as the occasional roach (quickly taken care of by notifying mgmt. who schedule an exterminator visit)and the occasional elevator outage (there are 2 others that will still be operational), but a real plus is that the head of building maintenance is live-in and new washers and dryers were just installed a few months ago.
