So you think just because you pay a huge amount of rent, you will receive a great place to live, right' Unfortunately, the Jefferson at Thomas Circle charges you very high rent, and then slowly reveals that the great apartment isn't what you thought it was. If you are searching for a nice place to live, there are better choices in DC. And if its like this now, its only going to get worse. The company that manages this place, also manages the Jefferson at Carlyle Mill in Alexandria, VA. Check out their tenants ratings for an ominous sign of things likely to come.

This person obviously has his facts wrong...Neither JPI or Prudential own or manage Carlyle Mill in Alexandria, please check your facts before you post them.

Well, not completely. Because if there was absolutely no connection between the two apartment communities, then it would not be advertised on the opening screen at www.jpi.com. The truth of the matter is, that JPI previously built the apartment, managed it for a year or so, then sold their rapidly deteriorating building to Equity Apartments. As we have already seen from the legally jumbled letter received several weeks ago, the property (Jefferson at Thomas Circle) is already beginning to be shuffled around, and will undoubtedly be sold. So, my original post may not have been complete, but it is understandable, since I am a tenant, not a manager/leasing agent. However, the reply to the post is a misleading attempt by an individual with professional ties to the building who knows better, but is hoping nobody will know enough. Nice try, but since I'm telling the truth, the facts will continue to support my claims.

what are the specific problems? I am interested in an apt there. I really want to be close to the Logan Circle area.

I am also a new tenant in the building and noticed poor quality materials and construction and sloppy workmanship within the first 24-48 hours after moving in. From paint splashes on the windows and cabinets to rust marks in the new bathtub, it just doesn't feel like the contractors took their time or took pride in their work. Management is thorough and responsive, but almost to a fault. With the number of rules and procedures, I feel as though I'm living in a quasi-police state. For example, in my last building I could obtain a parking pass or access to a common room from the front desk in a matter of minutes. The same requests must be processed through the leasing office and require paperwork which takes time. They also require all guests to sign in at the front desk. I will reserve my comment on the policy, but not on the implementation of it. I have observed other's guests and heard from my own that the request for them to sign in has been rather confrontational and almost rude. It is a brand new building, so I understand there may be some kinks to work out with the construction and they may be in hyper management mode. However, I'm hoping they will relax a little with time in the near future and construction will hold up over the long run.

I have lived in the apartment for a few months. I agree, the construction is poorly done. The walls all have one coat of painting, therefore leaving a fingerprint mark everytime. The apartment has thin walls, evertime a person shuts there door, my wall shakes, knocking off my pictures. These kinds of things are bound to happen at places, but for the price of a one bedroom, not acceptable. Not to mention, the roof has only one grill and doesn't even work that well. One side of the burner almost never gets hot enough. One lady got food poisoing on the 4th b/c she thought her food was cooked all the way through, but it was not. They said the grill was a 6 person grill. Yea, I would like to see 6 people fit on that grill, not going to happen. There is not enough space on the grill or in the area. There should be two smaller grills upstairs. Hey, how about one in the courtyard. Why do we not have one there? There should be at least two there. I am also tired of the lifeguard upstairs, she is a mood killer. I understand no glass, and do not do stupid things that are childish, but there are a lot of us who care about where we live. Also, the front desk workers are not doing there job. I put in request all the time for maintanence work, nothing was done twice. I had to do a second request. Also, I came one night from a meeting with my wife, and there were some odd fellows in the building, right inside, next to their desk mouthing off to women. Nothing was done or even ask them to leave. They need to check this more. I have a million things, but there are nice things, don't get me wrong, but too many mistakes for the price.

The building is beautiful, and the construction has been done well. HOWEVER, since we moved in, the tenants have somehow turned rowdy and the management doesn't seem to care about keeping a more professional environment. For this much money, residents' concerns should be promptly addressed and with sincerity, but that has not been our experience.
