I moved into the building in January after a month in corporate housing. I have found everyone to be nice - residents, staff and maintenance. I considered moving closer to Georgetown and closer to Chinatown, but didn't want to deal with the traffic at Verizon center events or undergrads too close to the univ. areas. This place is ideal for that - you can get there without living there. Fortunately I can walk to work (near Farragut). U-Street and Dupont circle are both walkable. I walked to the mall/monuments this Saturday - a little far but not so bad - I didn't cab it back anyway. It is about 4 blocks to the closest metro.
I read the other postings and there is some construction shortcutting, but I didn't move here expecting to own the place - it's an apartment. Maintenance has been responsive - although they called me at work "to make sure my lightbulb had been changed to my satisfaction" and that was annoying because I was in a meeting. I guess the positive is the effort. The appliances are better than I expected and go well with the granite/cabinets they selected - black on black with with reddish/cherry cabinets. I haven't noticed a problem with my windows - noise or draft-wise. Overall, this is a "better-than-average if you're not looking to own" apartment...great location, nice people, nice apartment finishes and nice amenities...and yes, there are a lot of dogs in the building but to me that adds appeal to the community.
