Lived here for 5 years - college and beyond

This is a very nice building, the places are on the expensive side, but the people here are usually nice.

My main gripes are:

The roach problem. A packrat used to live in the building and has only recently passed away, but the roach problem I assumed could be attributed to her is not getting much better. It's not that awful, but if you are a clean freak, finding dead roach bodies in your silverware drawer really freaks you out.

For the better part of 4 years there has been constant work in the building. They tell you when they will be coming in, and then arrive anywhere from a week late to a month late to never, and will never remember to lock your door when they leave, if you are not there. On weekdays, they love to start at 7:30am, which isn't so bad if you are a 9-5 worker, but if you are a student or working in the hospital, drilling waking you up at 7:30am on a regular basis might not be for you.

The parking is a pain in the butt, people will park in whoever's spot, and get annoyed when you are mad at them and have no concept of how hard it is to park in DC and how they should have to find street parking, not you. The front desk does not do much other than say "oh, that sucks, block them in" and WILL NOT tow these people, even after cars have sat in your spot for hours. On top of that, the trucks and vans that come carrying the people doing work love to come in at 7am and block people in in the lots.

If you have an apt on the alley side, the townhouses right outside your window will have loud parties thurs, fri, sat and sun until 2-4 in the morning, the windows offer limited noise control. If you have an apt on the other side, you get direct sun pretty much all day, which isn't so bad, but you won't be sleeping in and it will keep you apt pretty warm. The best option is to get a place at the front of the building where all you'll get is the wail of the occasional ambulance pulling into the ER.

The management sucks and changes all the time, the front desk people change all the time, and hardly know what they are doing, and chat on the phone most of their shift. The one person behind the desk that has been there for a while is exceedingly nice though and is a great person to deal with.
