My wife and I moved in to the historic wing of the Kennedy-Warren building in February of 2005. While the units are very charming, they are not worth the price. Building management has raised the rent $360 per month in the 13 months I have lived here, with another $230/month increase scheduled. Further, we have been very disappointed with the level of service. The units, while nice, are very old, and need frequent repairs. The service is rarely performed timely, and often needs to be repeated to be done properly. Parking is an additional $160/month, and we have reason to believe that it is not particularly secure. There was a break-in in the bike room (located in the parking garage) recently, which was captured on video, but not prevented.

I am the original poster here - I forgot to mention that we have had cockroach problems off and on since we moved. Management sprays, the cockroaches go away for a while, but come back sooner or later, and we repeat the process - very unpleasant.

WOW. I am SO glad we didn't move here! We looked here last year and saw WAY too many red lights. I am living at Highland House West in Friendship Heights, and while no place is perfect, we are only paying $1485 for a 950 sq. feet one bedroom, all utilities included, completely renovated with new appliances, fixtures, and real oak cabinets. AND parking is only $135 per month for a tandem (2 cars) spot! Get this...and I don't know if it's standard...but we just got our lease renewal form and we are only paying .03% increase for 2006. That's right. FIVE DOLLARS. So now we're gonna pay $1490 instead of $1485. I can't believe it, and this suits us just fine until we buy a home. On top of all that...it's right next door to Mazza Gallery, the new shops on Wisconsin, and numerous restaurants. I swear I'm not a leasing agent. I'm just a very happy camper. Good luck! :-)
