I just moved into the Latrobe last week and I read the reviews and was nervous about moving in. I was stopped in the E Cafe by a resident who was telling me not to move in. I admit I really thought twice about the Latrobe. I did go with my gut feeling and moved in any way and I have no regrets!
I think that everyone here is nice and goes above and beyond and I appriciate them all! What is even worse is that almost everyone writting these reviews CHOOSES to STAY. You have renewed your lease or transferred..... If you are so unhappy then it would seem like you would have move why stay and make everyone unhappy including yourself...
The building is under renovations and it is no surprise that it is not on time but things happen and they do try and they do have YMCA passes and they last more then one month.
Extremely Happy Resident!!!

I moved out about a half a year ago with similar complaints to the last few months of reviewers. The construction mentioned by other reviewers had been going on for a year before I moved out, and is still ongoing - so far, one and a half years of constant construction. Both the rooftop deck and the new gym center that were supposed to be completed in 2007 are still not complete according to other, more current reviewers. I don't have any regrets in leaving the Latrobe.
So, good luck to you, Happy Resident - it probably looks great now, but I'm convinced the experience will sour eventually. Be on the lookout for leaks, keep some earplugs by your bedside, get a box fan for the summer and a space heater for the winter, keep copies of your rent checks in case AIMCO screws up your records, and don't give up your current gym membership. You'll be fine, I'm sure.

You hit The Issue. You are treated well now because you just signed your lease. It is when you have a leak, a flood, an insect problem when you will find management is not only unsympathetic but you have in fact become their last priority. It's sad and shouldn't be that way, but it's happened to all of us who have lived there the last few years. When you're paying the rent you do and are a busy professional or student, you deserve a quiet, safe atmosphere with management who act with a vested interest in you.

How could you possibly think that after living in a place for one week you know everything about it? TRUST ME, it is only a matter of time before you are sick of it, and the fact that you read all of these reviews and still decided to move in, is going to make you feel worse in the end. As for why the residents are not moving out, WE ALL ARE!! My floor is practically empty now and when my lease is up, I am running out of here and never going to an aimco building again. We should seriously consider suing this company. We as tenants are entitled to peaceful possession of our rented space and we are not getting it!

Oh, trust me! I am one of the VERY NEGATIVE reviewers and I moved out ASAP. In fact I got out of my lease early.

I broke my lease and it was worth every over priced penny. Good for you for loving Latrobe after your first week. I think this means you just might make it.
And since you got the YMCA passes, did you keep them? Did you not turn them back in? Because EVRY time I have asked, Miss Not-at-all-helpful downstairs tells me that "oh the last girl who took 'em must not have brought 'em back yet." EVERY TIME.

Joanna, it's nice to see that the management of the Latrobe is posting another one of their -------- positive reviews of the building.
Hey, idiot, the reason people haven't left is they HAVE SIGNED A LEASE, and to break that COSTS MONEY! Think about it!
Do you honestly think that anyone is going to believe that a sane person who was told be a resident that the building's management sucks rocks would go ahead and sign a lease with said building? Anyone who is that retarded deserves to live here and enjoy the crappy service-with-an-attitude that you and Frank provide.
By the way, they next time you want to pull one of these capers, you might want to employ your spell checker, as well improve as your grammar, because your "Happy Resident" sounds like an inarticulate moron.
