Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
I've lived at Lotus Square since May 2007. I am of the opinion that this is one of those places that in a few years, i'm going to look back on and be like MAN that place has really gone to hell; because its well on its way now. Luckily I was of the first group of people to move into the brand new building, so no one had previously lived in my apartment.
As far as the apt itself goes, its nice. Not spectacular but nice. The size of the rooms aren't good, but the bathrooms are a good size. I LOVE having the washer and dryer in unit, as well as the dishwasher and garbage disposal. The walls and carpeting are plain, but what would you expect. The windows are difficult to open, but provide a lot of air circulation once you get them opened.
The walls are paper thin, u can hear everything going on to the right, left and above you. And let you make so much of a thump on the floor and the person below you will throw a fit.
Outside of the apartment, the buidling itself its horrible. The halls allneed a good paint job, scrubbing and carpet cleaning/replacement. Even after they painted the halls, they still looked horrible, because the painters dirtied the carpets even more, and no one thought to clean them. The elevators are terrible. They stop working every other second.
I have yet to hear anything about the 'business center' being open. The reasons for the delays changed everytime i inquired about it. The fitness center is a nice convenience, however a lot of the equipment doesn't work. If more than like 3 ppl are in tehre at the same time, there's going to be a problem.
The "controlled access" is just plain stupid. Why in the world would you have a building w/ 4 floors that didnt allow for guest to be buzzed in. Well you can buzz them inside, but you still have to go downstairs to get them access to the elevator.
Outside the building is ugly, and ghetto. Parking is horrific. I finally got a parking space after 8 months of living here, and although they said both me and my husband would get one, i'm pretty sure he's never going to get one. The garage is really small, especially compared to the number of units in the building. I used to love my veiw of the courtyard, but they stopped the upkeep of it, so now its just a bunch of weeds and grass that needs to be mowed.
Its hard to get things from management, but i take it all in stride, and try not to stress about stupid things.
All in all, if you get in now, you may be ok, but after 2009, the building will probably be a piece of crap.
