I lived in the building for two years. The rent is very reasonable and the location is great (only 3 blocks to the Mt. Vernon Sq yellow/green line stop), which is why I chose the place. But with cheap rent came problems. I had bug problems (roaches) on and off the whole time I lived there. They did exterminate, but the bugs always came back despite my efforts to keep a spotless kitchen. Maintenance was questionable and definitely got worse during the time I lived there. I happened to have an apartment across from the trash room and the smell was overpowering in the summer months--the smell would often drift into my apartment. Only after months and months of requests and complaints did they fix the problem. On another occasion, I had the experience of stepping out of the shower to find the maintenance folks in my apartment working on my heating unit. This was unannounced; they just decided to come right in and start working even though someone was clearly in the shower. Not very appropriate. I would agree with some other posters that the building management is rude. I would, however, say that the regular security guard was quite friendly and helpful.
