after living here for 4-5 months i feel i can without a doubt give this place a positive review. after moving to dc last spring i quickly found this complex on craiglist setup an appt to view the space and had moved in the following week. the staff here is just great from the managers to the custodians, and night security they are all friendly and quick to fix any problem you might have.
the location is great, only 3-4 blocks away from mt vernon square (green/yellow line) and also close to mcpherson square (orange/blue line). there is a corner store 1 block away, dry cleaners, restaraunts & liqour stores as well. old dominion brewery is only 2 blocks away. its great you can walk to a lot of places in DC and if you have a bike even better. the neighborhood seems to be in a period of transition for the better, its a mix of all sorts of people. i have never felt unsafe walking around even late at night. it tends to be louder during the day than at night. the fire station is down the street so that is the only constant noise i ever hear.
the apt complex itself is very clean and well kept. its an older place and the walls are thick concrete. i never hear my neighbors! i am not sure if they hear me but i have never had a complaint and i play my music loud all the time.
what else, recycling and laundry room downstairs. never had a problem with elevators. air conditioning went out only once the whole summer and it was back up by the end of the day. i have never had a problem with any other tenants, hardly ever see anyone to be honest. they offer above ground and garage parking, garage being more expensive. i had to wait 2 months after moving in before a parking spot was open, but they have a list and i was put right at the top.
as for the apartment itself, i just have a simple studio with extra kitchen space with is totally worth it. i really love the big windows. the price ain't that bad for DC and it has not gone up since i moved in either.
so this is the only place i have lived so i can't really compare it to other apartments but if you are looking for a medium priced place to live i would highly recommend this one.
