Totally Love Mass Court

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
I have to agree with the last review. I am a resident who has lived at Mass Court from the first year it opened. I feel that the negative comments about the building are somewhat unfair. Some problems of what previous reviews mentioned did happen like the elevator being down for a few months, a flood, a police car ramming through the building, etc. What those reviews failed to mention was that the elevator was broken because one of my NOT-SO-BRIGHT neighbors decided to use one of the fire sprinklers as a clothes hanger. I discovered that mishap caused a flood in the building which also caused extensive damage to one of the elevators (the same elevator the seems to be mentioned frequently). I can tell you that the elevators have been working great after it was finally repaired.
My rent has gone up over the last two years if you count the loss of the special that I received. I knew that I would eventually lose my special because it happened to me when I lived in Arlington at Post Pentagon Row. I had a great deal on an apartment after September 11, but my rent (without the special) went through the roof once that area became popular again. I took that into consideration when moving to Mass Court. I considered moving a few months ago, but many of the apartments in the area are have similar rents.
Personally, I think Mass Court is a much better building. It's far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Gallery Place/MCI Center, yet it close enough (3 blocks) if you want to pain the town. I just love the building and the location. The area was a bit scary a few years ago, but it has really come a long way.
The management office and the people who work for the building have all been very nice. I have actually witnessed one of my neighbors yelling at one of the people in the management office when I was paying my rent. I have to say that the leasing person handled herself very well. I would have gone medieval on that woman yelling if she talked to me with disrespect.
The only drawbacks are that there seems to be a lot of law students in the building (Georgetown Law School is a block away). However, there aren't as many as when I first moved in. The neighborhood is still developing. There is a lot of construction going on in the area. Other than that, it's a nice place to live.
