Great for post-grads and students! Best bang for your buck

For those reviews that complain - they are definitely older working professionals, or have had rare, isolated experiences.
If you are a recent college grad (this is my first year out of school) or you are a student currently (i.e. a Georgetown Law student) then this is absolutely the best place to live. Like a dorm, just higher class, this is the perfect apartment for people just entering the working world. Hence, the building is full of people just like me. I couldn't afford a studio in a nicer neighborhood like Dupont, so found 2 friends to split this apartment with. One lives in the Sunroom, but fits a queen sized bed, armoire, nightstand, and more. Since all of us are used to living in disgusting dorms or crappy college-town apartments, this place is heaven.
The upside to living in a huge, commerical complex are the amenities. I would NEVER be able to afford a building with a doorman, washer/dryer in unit, pool, and gym on my own. But since my rent is about $850/month, I get all of that for way less than a studio elsewhere in the city. My room is huge, my closet is the size of other people's rooms, and I have all the amenities I could ask for. I also don't have a car, so that saves huge on costs. Parking is available and safe, just super expensive (as it is everywhere, so get used to it).
I personally love how there are young people my age in the building - it makes the environment great for young people. A lot of people have written horror stories about the management. I suppose it is because they are older and care more about timely maintenence, constant attention, etc from their buidling managers. The down side to living in a large, commerical complex, is that you'll never get that attention. But if you're young, you won't care if a lightbulb doesn't get replaced in a few weeks or not. I have a friend my age who lives in the building that says when serious problems have happened in her apartment, they came to fix it right away - 9:30p.m. on a Sunday night no less.
So, if you're young and fresh out of school or are in the law school next door, this is the best place you'll find in D.C. 2 blocks from the metro, rent cheap enough so you can still go out, and amenities and space galore.
