Ive been there less than a year but I can tell you that it appears that the place is becoming neater and cleaner. Much of the interior has been gutted and redone (so has the landscaping outside). Like the neighborhood, the building is becoming cleaner and more civilized.
The only noise issues Ive had is with some of the hiphop crowd: they often blab very loudly in the halls and blare their car stereos at very late hours.
If there is a real big problem its this: management is lousy at communicating to tenants. Think I am being too harsh on mangement' Well, consider:
1) You come home one day and find SURPRISE! two of the three elevators are not working because they are being refurbished (the last one, meanwhile, is being used by new tenants moving in and thus is unavailable). Days pass by and youre never told when they will be operational again.
2) Same goes with some of the other renovations: they say they are putting in a new exercise room. Well, so far, the room remains unfinished. Its as if they have tried to do too many things at once and so are getting little done on any one project.
3) Worst of all, if you ask management a simple question: whats the schedule for completing this job (say, putting in new mailboxes), the response is, "We dont know." When you ask who would know, they say, "Oh, the owner." So who is the owner' "We cant tell you.
4) Ive gotten this same bullfeathers line from the maintenance people. "Hi, I called in a request a day ago. When will a repair person visit'" Answer: "Well get there soon as we can." "Whens that, roughly'" Answer: "We dont know."
Well....thanks for nothing, Mount Vernon Plaza! Its not like Im a paying customer who has a life to schedule (example: should I buy a gym membership or wait for the exercise room to open' Should I plan to leave early for work because I will have to walk the stairs because the elevators are out')
One hopes they get their act together.
