Like other reviewers, I agree that the MVP has a stellar location: walking distance to downtown (10 min.), Logan Circle/Whole Foods (15 min.), U St. (20 min.), and much more. I love having central A/C and a W/D in my unit. I've lived in seven different neighborhoods in D.C. over the last seven years, and I will aver that the MVP is the best value for the price. Value, that is -- not luxury.

We have had problems with both mice and roaches (but then again... most places in D.C. do, too, regardless of "cleanliness"). There have been problems with noise and loud music. Street parking is scarce, but I never park my car more than about a block away except on Friday and Saturday, or on convention days. The concierge (front desk security) is conspicuously absent most of the time I need to pick up a package. Maintenance is, in our experience, prompt with little fixes, but slow as molasses with bigger repairs. And the exercise room is in pretty sad shape, so I have a membership at a local sports club.

However, the common areas are clean and the staff is polite. The daytime guard on weekdays is one of my favorites, always friendly and ready with a greeting.

So: you get what you pay for. We're still paying about $500 less than we would in any of the (brand new) luxury buildings within a 2 block radius. That suits me just fine.

Most of us haven't been as lucky as you. The apartments are miserably hot and won't cool off until they turn the air on (I was told when I moved in I could have it year round and found that to be a lie). I have asked for simple repairs a number of times and they still haven't showed up. The front desk gal during the day is RUDE and NOSY and will tell your business. Every year the rent increases by a 100.00 and the service goes down even further. What about the clutter memos - those are an invasion of people's privacy.
