Nice for Just Starting Out

I have lived in a one bedroom at Naylor Garden for about two years now. My husband and I were lucky enough to get our apartment at a promotional price. Others pay $200-350 more a month for our same apartment which sucks.
The Good News: The staff (maintenance included) is great. I am really big on good customer service and have never come across anyone with less than a positive, friendly attitude. It makes paying your rent a more positive experience when you get a smile and a "How are you today'" at the rental office.
The apartments are beautiful, brick buildings with a colonial flare to them. And the landscaping is beautiful. With all of the colorful flowers and green grass, you would think you live in NW somewhere.
There is also a decent security system. Guards stand watch all day and night. And there are free safe rides that will drive you to your apartment door after dark.
In addition, the property is very quiet. Other than a few young kids playing nicely outside, I have never seen any people loitering around or being loud.
The Bad News: Some aspects of the apartments are outdated. For instance, the oven we have is very old (and smaller than the standard size). It caught on fire once and instead of getting a new unit, management just replaced the wiring. But we haven't had any problems since.
Also, the tubs and sinks have been painted over so many times and after a few months, the paint starts to peel and is not attractive.
The laundrymat has had too many malfunctions--sometimes we have gone a week or two with no working washer in the building.
Parking can be bad if you get in late (but there are the safe rides).
Car robberies have been somewhat of a problem. There have been two attempts to break into my husband's car.
A/C--there is none. You have to purchase your own window unit, pay a $200 initial fee, and THEN pay $100 every year to keep your permit current.
ALL IN ALL: I would recommend Naylor Gardens to anyone just starting out on their own. It's a great first apartment considering the price and atmosphere. However, after having a mostly positive experience here, I am looking to move onto another apartment complex.
