Recommended If You Can Get the Right Unit

We've been here a few months, and so far we're really happy with our place.

The units have been tastefully renovated (new when we moved in), but most of them are small (our one-bedroom is only 470 sq. ft.) and some of the floor plans are bizarre - it's best if you come with little or no stuff. Nice touches include a crappy but convenient washer/dryer in each unit, central air/heat, and tile floors.

The building itself doesn't have any amenities - no parking, front desk to accept packages - basically nothing outside of your unit, but the leasing office located down the street is decent and the on-site building manager Ray is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The neighbors seem nice, too, although we've heard that some parts of the building have noise control issues.

Off-street parking fills up pretty quickly around the neighborhood, but since most people come and go on a regular basis, we've never had to park more than two blocks away even late at night. If you don't drive, there are bus lines right in front of the building and a Metro station five blocks away.

Rent includes utilities, and for seventy bucks extra a month, a T1 line and cable with HBO. All of the units go for the same rate, though, and some are a lot nicer than others, so ask to see all of the available units before you make your decision.

I think that it is unacceptable to live an apartment that small. College dorms are 480SQ FT. These rental companies should be ashamed of themselves for putting people in rat holes like that. I am a Howard student that moved from a nearby dorm that was interested in these apartments, but they didn't post the SQ FT or the floorplans on the apartmentshowcase.com site. I see why. Even though you recommended them, I will not give them my business. Thank you and good luck.
