My boyfriend and I blindly moved out to DC from California, paying a deposit before even seeing the apartment or the area, and we really lucked out. Park Monroe is one of the best apartments for the price in the 16th St./Mount Pleasant area. The building is clean, safe, and well-kept, and the staff and management are very friendly and responsive. We pay a little more each month for a garage parking spot, which is much easier than trying to find a space on the street (though that's not impossible, either). The only small complaints I have are that the water pressure in the showers is somewhat meager (rent includes all utilities minus electricity) and the fact that if your apartment faces 16th St., you'll get a lot of traffic noise in the summer with the windows open. The apartment itself is very quiet, though, and the tenants are courteous and responsible. The location is great -- close to metro/bus stops and within walking distance of Adams Morgan, grocery shopping, restaurants, etc. I would have been disappointed if I were in any of the surrounding apartments; they appear dirtier and I've read about rodents and cockroaches. The Park Monroe building is very well taken care of, and the rent really seems like a deal. I have yet to come across a similarly attractive apartment for the same price. I have no reasons to dissuade anyone from renting at Park Monroe. It's been a great experience for a first-time renter like me, and I can only hope to find the same wherever I go.

I've been here for a year now and Keener Management does more than its part to take care of the residents. The building is clean, has regular pest control treatments (not that there are any from my experience), has a friendly staff, good security rules and quiet, courteous residents. I don't have any complaints and I find that I do get my money's worth. You will hear all the sirens and cars if you face 16th street, but you get used to it anyway and it's bearable when the windows are closed. I came to DC without knowing what to expect and Park Monroe has given me a good experience so far!
