There are roaches, no AC, the buildings are not wired for cable, teh neighbors are ghetto. I have had one car stolen and another broken into with the radio taken. There are no amenities and it is a 25 minute walk to brookland metro.

Try the Fort Totten Metro, its a 10-15 minute walk, but in the other direction, also Red and Green Line. Roaches yes, depending on what floor you're on, but traps and one of those noise makers take care of that. Ghetto Neighbors? You could do alot worse in DC even in neighborhoods that look nicer, there's alot more breakins and actual murders taking place, this area is pretty safe, maybe the safest you'll find in Northeast. Amenities is a serious problem but there's ways around some of it (try slingbox from a friend or classmates aptmnt dorm or house), but the washer/dryer situation leaves much to be desired. Still for the price, especially on the 2 bedroom, can't complain but so much.
