Nice place but somedays...

Been living here for a while now. It's a nice building and is usually quiet and comfortable but every spring and summer it's over run by non-resident college and grad students who jam the roof deck and pool and trash the place. There are some great grad students living here who aren't the problem -- a few are neighbors of mine -- but there's an increasing element of others who are noisy and disrespectful, and seem to congregate it droves. It's unsettling and I sometimes feel unsafe. Last night the roof deck was jammed with non residents despite policies forbidding that, and GLASS bottles of cheap booze and cigarette butts were strewn everywhere. Management should do a better job of policing it so the rest of us who pay to live here can enjoy the premises and feel safer in our own homes. Too many people seem to be able to access this building without being buzzed in my a resident or checking in at the desk.

You should also know:

1) Living on the Mass Ave side can be pretty noisy. There are lots of firetrucks and ambulances all day /all night.

2) You can pretty much buy whatever drug you'd like from the three or four homeless guys who deal half a block away just behind the Hanneman monument on Scott Circle. That area is over run with rats these days, it hasn't been mowed yet this year, and it's a pretty unsafe place to walk through at night. Not management's fault, but if more people complained about the activity there, and the trash that's heaped all along the sidewalks there, perhaps Park Police or DC's own finest would police it more regularly.

4) Crossing the street at 15th and N can be deadly. Again, not management's fault, but just a warning to anyone who plans to "walk everywhere" given how convenient this building is for pedestrians. The lines on the street there need repainted and the signs which once marked the crosswalk were removed or stolen.

5) Maintenance is prompt and helpful. All the staff are pleasant. Management is by far better than other places where I have lived. I do like living here.
