Do not live here. Building manager, who I am not allowed to name because of guidelines, is a moron. She has no idea what is going on, no idea how to solve problems, did not even have my keys available on move-in day, and should quit her job. Picture a Barbie aged -- years that has been left in the sun and dressed by Ann Coulter (1980's black cocktail attire) plus a drinking problem and you'll get the idea. I would name specific problems I've had with the building, but I don't want her to read this and realize who is writing it. Trust me, stay away. Glad I won't have to--------- of her.

Also, construction is constantly going on, the air conditioning didn't work, the elevator was ALWAYS out of order, overpriced parking, a laughable gym, and it took ------ Building Manager AGES to respond to emails. I wouldn't be surprised if she couldn't figure out how to turn her computer on. A monkey would be better suited for the job.

Strangers wandered in off the street more than once and assaulted women in building. Total lack of security, with building manager having no idea how to deal with situations.

At best, Savoy is an overpriced dump with a tacky lobby and tackier staff.

Pets not allowed, even though building manager may have a cat. You can smell cat pee in the halls, cig smoke, and weed.

The only saving grace of the Savoy are the people who work at the front desk.

This crap isn't an apartment review - it is a mean spirited, inaccurate personal attack. If there is anything wrong with the Savoy, it isn't the manager - who is compotent, professional, attractive, and appropriately behaved and attired. The problem is that the manager is caught between the rock of obnoxious and inconsiderate tenants, many of whom are GWU students and a greedy management company that doesn't back her when she tries to move against those tenants. Many of the buildings problems result from immature tenants. Although many of the GW students in the building are considerate, many GWU student-tenants treat the building like a dorm. If you can smell cigarettes, weed, beer, or pets, it is the fault of these tenants. If criminals or thieves are let in the building at times, it is these tenants that let them in. If the elevator is broken, it is from excessive GWU traffic. If the washroom is a mess, these immature college students are to blame. The immature segement of the GWU student population is the main source of the problems in the building. The fact is GWU refuses to build enough dorms. So the school's students are forced out into the Foggy Bottom community. If the Savoy is too expensive it is because college students packing 4-6 people to an partment distort the apartment market in Foggy Bottom. The apartment manager shouldn't have to tell tenants not to play soccer in the hallway at 2 in the morning, not to steal furniture from the lobby, not to break light fixtures, not to set off fire extinguishers. Common sense and common courtesty, and maybe a little parenting should do that. And if the manager can't stop all this nonsense, it is because she receives no backing from the management company. They won't spend money on repairs in many cases, they are loath to evict. And GWU is of little help, they seldom discipline or kick students out, even for criminal behavior. So the problem isn't the manager, it is the stupidity and immaturity of a segment of the GWU tenants, the bad parenting that creates useless, brain-dead young people like this, the greed and lack of backbone of the management company, GWU's failure to build dorms and to police its student's shennanigans. My guess is that the mean-spirited little creep that wrote the nasty review was one of these GWU students, probably one that the manager took action against. And to get the manager back, he/she wrote the nasty "review." So, don't believe a word of it. It is just sour grapes. Former Savoy Tenant (2000-2005)

oh so it is gwu student who are responsible for every thing? are you on drugs? fyi not every tenant is a gwu student. not only that the tenants pay a lot of money. if something is broken mgmt should fix this ---- hole. fyi rent includes repairs and the savoy mgmt should expect this behaviour from gwu students - they are STUDENTS. this place is a ---- hole over priced dump. I think the person who wrote the review was part of the management company defending this piece of ---- building.. PLEASE BELIEVE EVERY WORD OF THE PERSON WHO WROTE THE BAD REVIEW, DO NOT BELIEVE THE WORDS OF THE PERSON ABOVE BLAMING GWU STUDENTS. STAY AWAY FROM THE SAVOY!!!!

Comment Two clearly has a personal connection with the building manager. I've been in the Savoy, and I've seen that manager totally befuddled with her position. As for the positive reviewer defending the manager-- Only a person over the age of 60 would refer to the first comment as "sour grapes." I actually think the first review was a helpful review and I know now to stay away. The Statesman seems like a lot better alternative. btw I have no connection with The Statesman, I just think it looks cleaner and roomier for the same price as the Savoy. Lol.. yes, and the puke yellow exterior.
