A Rip Off

I chose the Chastleton after looking at a few other places to live in DC. The location is the only thing this building has going for it. That is essentially what you are paying for. The apartments are OK in size, just as long as you live no higher than the 4th floor (since the elevators are usually out of order and you have to take the stairs). The hallways are disgusting; most of the time, I felt like I was living in a college dorm than a "luxury" apartment building. It was noisy, dirty, and the halls always wreaked of food, stale beer, and worse.
Don't be fooled, like I was, by the semi-nice looking lobby and the fact that there are usually one or two "security guards." As a single girl living in a new city, I was initially conforted by the fact that these people were there to protect the residents, but more an dmore I realized that they were too busy having their own conversations and not caring to assist tenants.
