Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2005
I lived in the Chastleton for 3 years. The first year (2002) my roomies and I loved it. Our apartment was beautiful, had an amazing view, location was safe and efficient, the security officers were extremely nice, the apartment was very spacious, the staff was friendly and understanding and we rarely had problems. When we did, they were taken care of immediately.
The next year I moved into a one bedroom apartment with my boyfriend just down the hall. The apartment was nice, had a balcony, and I was fairly happy. Then, the staff was fired and a new company took over the building. They still run the place to my knowledge, the building manager is a complete -----, and the 'fix it' staff sucks.
As the seasons changed and it got colder, my windows started getting damp and forming mold all over them. I would complained weekly. When the maintenance staff came and fixed it all they did was cover all the cracks full of mold with calking. They did this when it was 20 degrees out so the calking never dried because of the condensation that was constantly running down the windows. The calking then melted all over my bed and ruined my sheets. I complained and nothing was done. One day bugs came out of the cracks and I freaked out alerting everyone of what was going on... needless to say nothing was ever fixed and I eventually moved out. It was a terrible experience and the building manager, Paula was NOT helpful at all. I miss that old staff, they were at least nice.
If you're desperate and find a place in the Chastleton that doesn't have problems... then take it. If it has any sign of issues... DON'T BOTHER!!
