Told approved and then not approved 5 days later

We went to tour the Kenmore and put our application in on a Monday evening. The leasing agent, ------, told us that she would get back to us about our application on Thursday, since she was off on Tuesday. She never called and I called her Friday around noon. She said that she would process our application and call back in about a half hour. She didn't call by 5 so I called and left a message for her to call me back since she was on a tour. No call by 6 which is when they close. I then called her AGAIN Saturday afternoon and she said the apt. that we were applying for and that we were approved and would be sending out the Welcome Email and Letter that day. We were very happy and put in our notice at our current apartment. AGAIN, that never happened. Well, we recieved a voicemail from the property manager, ------ ------, that following Tues. regarding our application and to call back at our earliest convenience. Well, we called back later that day and left a message for her to call back. She never called. Called the next day 3 times, was told she was either on the other line or unavailable, and never got a call back. The following day we called and were told that she was in a meeting and left a message for her to call back. Well, she finally called us back and told us that we weren't approved for the apartment! When we told her that ------ had told us the previous Saturday that we were approved, ------ said that ------ isn't the one who processes the application that ------ does all of them, and that it actually wasn't processed until Monday. ------ had no explanation for why ------ would have told us that. Also, when we told her that we had already given our apartment notice b/c we were told that we had been approved for the apartment she was just basically like Oh well, sorry. I don't think I'd want to move in there now even if we were approved!
