Sure, the roaches are everywhere, and yeah, once you get past the 6 coats of fresh paint oneverything, the building is essentially falling apart, but you know what' You get what you pay for. The rent is very reasonable, and the maintenance staff is truly outstanding considering the sheer number of complaints they must receive. Expect repairs to take no more than a day for minor things, immediately in emergencies. I never had a problem with the laundry rooms... did the person that wrote that complaint know there are two' The little bodega/convenience store in the lobby has recently been renovated, and it is certainly convenient, although very overproced and sometimes the milk is bad. Having a video store, barber, and cheap dry cleaner in the building is nice too. I never got the courage to have a drink or try the food at the restaurant. The shuttle bus is a nice feature, and metrobus stops right in front of the building. I lived here for one year and never felt unsafe... granted i am 6 ft tall and lived on the 12th floor. The accounting office was very polite and responded in a timely enough fashion to complaints etc. The front desk security was always polite with regards to lockouts etc, though I never really saw them ask anyone to sign in if they didnt have an woodner card. So here it is: The neighborhood is fine, on the good side of 16th street, the park is lovely in the spring and summer, the rents are cheap, and if you keep to yourself and act sensibly late at night, youll be fine. Simple as that.
