Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2007
I have lived in the Woodner for almost 2 years. I have wanted to move since late 2005 and am finally making it happen. It's easy to become complacent with your living situation and that's exactly why it has taken me so long to move. The bugs are absolutely ridiculous. I once had a conversation with the building manager and she had to sweep a live roach off her desk. True Story. The exterminating company was recently switched, probably in September, but there are problems beyond the control of simply spraying. The building is huge and infested, and the management really should consider bombing the entire building, floor by floor, in order to exterminate. Even if you are clean, and your next door neighbors are clean, you cannot control what the people above, below, or in the past have done to contribute to the infestation problem. There are also mice, but having a cat can greatly curb your experience with mice.
My apartment was broken into and despite the fact that the police could find no sign of forced entry, the management refused to take any responsibility. Later that month, most of the security guards changed and were fired. Whether a security guard was involved in the theft, I later found out that the locks on my door had not been changed since the last tenant.
Lastly, the Woodner is very noisy. Every other day there is an ambulance or police car in the front, or even a firetruck. The security desk can't possibly keep up with everyone because there are thousands of people living in the building. I have decided to move to a much smaller building because the traffic and number of residents/visitors in the building contribute to the madness.
If you view an apartment here, check all the cupboards and corners, cause the bugs will eventually make a debut!
