An exceptionally convenient location for someone with no car. All the S-buses stop right out front and you can walk to the Columbia Heights metro stop. The halls are clean and quiet, and I enjoy having a gift shop and small grocery on the lobby floor. My apartment has beautiful wood floors and is pest-free. I have had to contact building services to repaint my bathroom ceiling and remove a buildup of ice in my refrigerator, and they were friendly and fast in responding. The building's full of diverse tenants from all walks of life, and I like that.

GOOD LORD, how much have you been paid???? It is the most disgusting place I have ever lived and this only by accident. No normal civilized person,or any legal person should even consider living there.

This review is hysterical. Yes, I agree with Anonymous. Woodnerlady was paid for that review. Either that, or Woodnerlady is herself one of the roaches who live there and who outnumber the humans hundreds to one. The day that I escaped was one of the great days of my life. I love how low she rates the noise yet talks about the quiet halls. Maybe Woodnerlady is the idiot who runs the resident services office. She lied regularly when I lived there.

I lived there for two years, and while I wouldn't want to move back, I agree with everything Wonderlady says...and I live in Baltimore and am a law student...don't own any property. The buses are very convenient for the price (try to get a studio that size for that price that close to a metro any other slightly safe place in DC), I didn't have any pests in apartment (kept it clean, thanks), the floors were beautiful, the amenities great, and the people very diverse and mostly very friendly and nice. Also, the maintenance people always responded quickly and were very polite...of course, I didn't call them every day complaining about a paint chip. Maybe some of you should look at your demands, your price range, and think of some of the positive things in your lives. Every time someone considers some of the benefits of this building, the automatic response is "oh, must be management!" Seriously, look back. Getting old, guys. Some people have different opinions and don't enjoy living their lives focusing on the miserable.

I resent the implication from Anonymous #2's review -- "(kept it clean, thanks)" -- I kept it clean, too, you jerk. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW CLEAN YOU KEEP YOUR APARTMENT WHEN A BUILDING IS INFESTED WITH ROACHES. PERIOD. I lived at the Woodner for 18 miserable months, and to this day, I flinch every time I think I see something small moving out of the corner of my eye. I also didn't blame management for every mishap or "paint chip" in my apartment; stuff happens, it's an old building. However, when my bathroom ceiling almost caved in because the toilet above mine was leaking all over MY floor and management didn't respond to anything short of a pretty menacing letter over the course of THREE WEEKS of *politely* trying to get someone to take action and prevent my apartment from flooding, that was the last straw. Why anyone would choose to move into a building with a known, long-standing roach infestation is beyond me. Good luck. Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.

Obviously a lot of people in the building have pests, and they have posted their experiences. I'm free to post mine - I love the location and haven't had any experience with roaches or any other pests. Don't be resentful or assume that everyone in the building is living with your problem.

I have lived in the Woodner for 14 years. Yes it is an old building but I face Rock Creek Park (with a balcony) my rent is stable, public transportation is a walk out the door. The building is not perfect but it is what you make it. Yes there are bugs but keep your apartment clean and get regular pest control which is offered. Try to find this size apt for under 2 grand in this city is IMPOSSIBLE!! Friends are always amazed and jealous when they come over. I can't wait for the pool to open.. I know- you're going to complain because it is a small pool-- but it has great deck space. Ethnically diverse- good amenities-- on a snow day I never have to leave the building to get anythng I need (store is overpriced but I can go to it in my pajamas). If you don't like it then just move!!
