Sort of a slum in an expensive neighborhood

Glover Park is a very neighborhood-y neighborhood -- parks, elementary school, no through traffic, trees, grass, pretty quiet -- and I like it a lot. Tunlaw Gardens, though, does not reflect the high property values in the area, though.
The buildings are old, which can be great, but it appears that very little money has gone into improving the plumbing, which is a big pet peeve of mine. The water pressure is absolutely horrible.
Charles E. Smith doesn't think it is important for visitors to have a way to contact the person they are visiting. I have lived here for over 1.5 years and for *the entire time* the intercom system has been nonfunctional. That means that the only way people can let me know they are here to see me is by either throwing something at my window or by calling me on the phone. That's great unless your guest doesn't have a phone.
The way they clean up a unit prior to a new tenant is by slapping a thick coat of white latex paint over the entire place, the doors, the door hinges, everything. On my door hinges, the paint grew so thick that it started peeling away revealing rusty metal that had been painted over who knows how many times.
I like the high ceilings, concrete walls and wood floors.
The lock on my mailbox has never worked and at least two other mailboxes in my building don't lock.
They are extremely pet-friendly, which is 90% of the reason why I moved here.
Two of four closet doors only close when pressed very hard. The bathroom door and the bedroom door only close when slammed very hard. This was after maintenance responded to a repair request to fix them. Prior to the visit the doors wouldn't close at all, now they have to be slammed.
In the 1.5 years that I've lived here, there have been five different property managers (!). I think the current manager is only temporary but is also managing another Charles E. Smith property a couple blocks away.
