Don't rent here! The leasing agents will sell you a load of crap. Archstone will promise you the moon to get you to sign a lease, then once you move in they could care less. They WANT you to move out after a year, that way they can raise the rent. At VNS expect lazy and just plain rude management (the receptionist/customer service girl -------- is horrible and ---- the manager isn't much better). Services such as security have been taken away.
They also try and charge residents for the "building" phones in each apartment's kitchen. They add $9 rent to each month, WRONG. I was informed by the tenants' assocation that the phones are included in the building. After going back and forth with management they agreed to drop the fee. The phone only connects you with the front desk, so it's not really a universal phone at all.
Avoid Archstone at all costs! I'm so happy I've moved out and into a condo. I pay nearly the same, but not I own and don't have the hassles that come at VNS.
