I have to say I thought I was moving into a pretty nice neighborhood full of working class people. However, when I had an interview with the property management and all of Section 8 clients were there; I quickly said never mind. I never knew that Section 8 was available for this property. They are not use to luxury, so they should not be given the advantage. They just tear things up and wait for things to be handed over to them. I applaude all of tax payers and the working class. Therefore, I have two children, and I refused to let them be surrounded by tacky people and loud music.

It sounds as if you aren't a resident. Yes, there are some section 8 people that resident there and also a lot of working class individuals like myself who aren't able to receive section 8. Over all I would say that it is not a bad complex your impression is coming from your interview and some not all section 8 individuals. Remember that just because a person has a section 8 voucher doesn't always mean they are ghetto, they to have to work to supplement their rent. Also the property is income restricted so with that being said you know that there are going to be section 8 people in a complex that has income requirements.

to response below - Yes, you are right. However, the majority of them bring in the bad crowd, may be not so much all the time from the good ones, but their company always metastasize the ghetto with a project-like environment; that is why the community becomes infected with ignorance of not appreciating a good thing. Keep them far away from where I live.

I would have to agree with you 100% I use to live here! My story was written about the car window being broken and the bowling ball was stolen. Section 8 people are just a loud rowdy ignorant bunch. You can't even enjoy your home because they're always tearing things up. I was looking back here to see if things improved because a relative of mine is moving to the city but I wouldn't set them up for a fall living here.

It's a sad day when people are now grouped and judged on their living arrangment. Section 8 persons are not all LOUD and ROWDY. In some instances you may not even know who has section 8 or not. Could it be that regular tenants are the cause of some of you all's distaste for the area?
From: Keith2006 Date: 10/16/2006
I would have to agree with you about 70%; as while. However, with your presumptions of things you shouldn't be inquiring at a place like Woodmont, you should be a homeowner; or you can't afford it, or your credit is bad. All I'm "saying" is live how you think. It's not section 8 people but, it's people who are uneducated, and people who lack education, ignorance is replaced whether it be section 8 or a market rate payee.

That is the most ignorent comment I have ever heard. To stereotype someone, because they have sec. 8. Yes, I can admit that some people with lowincome, or section 8, may not take care of things. However, this can also be the case with someone who does not have section 8. There are people with Section 8 who actually work 9-5's, make decent money, and take very good care of things. Perhaps, maybe you should be educated on the section 8 process, because you seem very uneducated and ignorent.

I truly believe that alot of people have abused a system that was designed to help those who are willing to help themselves. But to stereotype everyone is as ignorant as racism. I have a voucher and have successfully put myself through college, I work everyday and I am also a single parent. Your comment parallels much to the likes of Hitler-I'm sure you would love to kill them all. By the way my mom has a voucher as well, and she is a law abiding christian woman.

What the hell? My family has lived on section 8 for 20 years and you are trying to judge all section 8 applicants the same? Most people on section can be rather ghetto, however, some section 8 acapplicants, like myself, have class. So it is wrong to judge one group of people. Besides, it's S.E., what the ---- can you possibly expect. You sound like you forgot where you came from.

I am a mother of two and I posses a Section 8 voucher I have to agree with missie20 you can not label people because of what they have. I work two jobs and I also am attending school so for people who are ignorant, judging, and labeling people because they have a voucher that is crazy. what if I called you a racist would I be wrong for saying that? Would I be wrong for telling you that you are the cause of the property value for being low just because you work and your kids are loud? I know I would be wrong because the first thing you would say is I don't know you. So for people who have negative things to say about a person with Section 8 do your research before you make a comment. Also I have came across people who pay market rent and they were just as loud and ghetto then a person on Section 8.

I am 28 years old with one child and i've lived on section 8 most of my life. I work fulltime and have done so for the past 10 years after high school. You really need to educate yourself about the system, section 8 is all over the country. The law states that in any apartment complex they have to take a certain percentage of low income individuals, so if you were to move to Bethesda section 8 may be right next door. Low income works better in other states because the rules are stricter and they have property managers who care.

I would agree 100%with the brother who refers to himself as Keith
People should not be judged by whether or not they have section 8. The truth be told if you have a problem living with people who you feel are beneath you, why is it you keep finding yourself in the same circles. maybe its because you are not as successful as you think you are, and the way out is to buy your own and you can't.
Maybe to avoid low income or any kind of people working hard at it to survive, you should afford yourself your own island.
But be warned it doesnt matter the thieves will still come in the night it doesnt matter where you live. And chances are they won't have section 8 vouchers

Also...as an independent student you can apply for section 8 housing. I went to Virginia Tech for my undergrad and I had many friends who were in section 8 housing. There is NOTHING wrong with it. Also, you shouldn't be quick to generalize people who are in section 8 housing into 1 category. I mean my roommates now are loud, rowdy and tear things up but I don't live in section 8 housing!!!!

Let me tell you something ass hole who the hell is you calling those section 8 people dont deserve to live in places like those. Those section 8 people and thats including me with no kids live better and in better places then you in your whole dumb ass life.If you have so much money to spend living in woodmont i might pay $0-$19 month to live in the same apartment complex you live in. I love some of the places i can get with my voucher and can live anywhere in the usa that accepts vouchers.thats cool! i dont depend on the goeverment for my money but i do for my rent, a place to lay my head.so stop acting like you all that cause youre not. and get real and admit it to all us that you are on welfare, get a check, have 10 kids, smoke no telling what and lost in life just like all us . lmao good luck next time in what you write cause you might get told off better then i did. amber from washington dc

25 I do agree with all the people who said that section 8 is to help you get on your feet and everybody gets on thier feet when they get ready so just pray for our brothers and sisters that has not gotten ready yet. Remember it does take time and alot of support.

Good Morning to all I am a client of the Section 8 program and I just want to clarify a few things first I am a RN (registered nurse) who works two jobs my children attend prestigous private schools and I pay the majority of my rent which is $1800 The program is a subsidy to help people get on their feet in their time need (mine was while I attended school) so don't be so quick to judge or assume that the"ghetto people" are only from Sec 8 or don't have jobs or education
From: notafool34 Date: 10/05/2007
to vicentZLC why in the hell have your family been allowed to be on sec 8 for 20 years you and your family are leeches People like me who pay our taxes into that -------- system dont see any benifits when our familys are in need. I was wounded in Iraq and stll have to work a full time job even when I am 60% disable. I hate people like you. You hold our hold race back trying to get over all the time and hard working people like me got to keep paying. MAN UP PUNK
From: Anonymous Date: 04/10/2008
I think amber 1962 says in all in what you don't want living next to you. Yes there are many hard working people living on section 8 and that was what section 8 was meant for not ignorant people who need to learn to speak english like amber 1962. I wish our government would clean up our section 8 system and get rid of people who take advantage.
