As a college student I have loved living at the York. It has been so much more quiet than the dorms were probaly because people know the "old" residents will harass them if their too loud. My studio also has a lot of storage space (2 closets), nice wood floors, french doors to the kitchen, and a large spacious picture window. However, I've heard from others that some rooms are like closests and may not even have an oven or have a refrigerator near the toilet!

The downsides of living here is that the noise from all the construction going on in Foggy Bottom never ends. You can at times be waken up at 7 am on a Sunday or 6:30 am during the week from the horrible noise of jack hammers/drills. The apartment building is also old and not in the best of shape. The paint on the walls chips off a lot and starts to run a brown liquidy substance after you take a shower. The kitchen cabinets/sinks and the heater are old. Probaly in time the apartment building will have to undergo a lot of renovations.

But luckily I have not experienced any major repairs since being here. However, maintenance does come out within only a few hours after a request is placed. The building is also very clean probaly because the staff is always cleaning the place. There are NO bugs or rodents inside which is a major plus. The leasing office has been great to deal with as well.

Overall, I recommend this apartment to college students who want to get out of the dorms and experience "real" independent living.
