Get anything from the office in writing,
I got stung by a similar "special" after similar assurances from the office that were
false, too.

It gets even worse when you renew. We were told we were getting a "special" which was the only way we could afford this place. I expressed concern that the rent might go up if I decided to renew, and the leasing agent assured me that it would go up just a little bit, maybe 5%. Well guess what, if I do renew, I'm told my rent will jump to the "market" price. A 20% increase! So the girl lied to me to get me to sign a lease, and now I have to find someplace else to live. Management couldn't care less.

Agreed, I never should have believed the leasing associate. This was my own fault. Everyone in the office was so nice and seemed honest but I've seen that they are typical of the low class element around here.
