Although when I was living there I had no complains, when I was ready to move out and gave 30 day notice (job transfer), the lease office staff had no intentions of giving my deposit money back. They were uncooperative and gave lame excuses why they won't refund deposit. It has been months now of going back and forth, but no signs of any payment.

Maybe they werent going to give your deposit back because the condition of your apartment. Another reason could be that if your lease is terminated early, there is an early erm fee.. AGAIN, in the lease. that seems to be a common theme, noone that does these postings reads what is plain as day in black and white on their lease.

Not true. Apartment was in a good condition. Management agreed to that. Regarding early termination clause - yes there is a clause that you need to give 2 months notice before you move; unless it is a work related moving - in which case you need to give 1 month notice. My move was work related and I gave 1 month notice. The property management company refused to accept my move was work related. They gave dumb excuses like - you should have given all documents 30 days from the move. Lease didn't have any such 30 day clause. I gave all documents to Management company as they requested. I agree things are not black and white. But in this case, Building Management was going out of their way to find excuses to not give deposit money back. They didn't give me a fair consideration.. If anyone likes, I will be happy to post all my correspondence with Building management. Again, my recommendation is DO NOT RENT IN SCOTCH HILL. - Aman |
