I believe this apartment complex is one of the worst in New Castle County. I would suggest getting police reports on how many times have the New Castle County police have had to come out to the complex for problems along with how many reports of apartment and auto break-in's and thefts there were between 2005 to present... It will make you say hmmm. We should not have to form a watch program to take on all the bad people who come into the complex. It's like we are in the movie, "THE WARRIORS" and we have to take on all the gangs in the complex. The rental office, the maintenance office, the latino's, the --------, the Flinkin's, etc etc. Also the complex uses gas electric so when you get your electric bill each month you will pay close to 200 in the winter time so with the rate increase this may expect to pay 250-300 dollars a month for your electric and gas bill. If I could get out of my lease and get my security deposit back then I would relocate to one of the nicer, cleaner, less chaotic apartment complexes in New Castle County. I would recommend checking out St. Andrews, it is a rental community which is in a very quiet calm setting, and the management takes care of it's renters from what I have seen from my friend's place in there. When it snows your sidewalk up to your front door is shoveled and the roads are plowed before you wake up and they do not plow your cars in. I agree with all the PA license plates in the complex too, I mean there are more PA license plates in Scotch Hills then DE plates. I heard it was easier for the illegal immigrants and non-licensed drivers to get the inspection stickers from PA and they do not update their tags.

I do not understand why Annonymous is complaining about his electricty and gas? Isnt going up for everyone, not just the residents at Scotch HIlls? If you dont want to pay it then run home to mommy and daddy! SECOND: the police reports are readily available to the public, if requested, so try concating the NCCPD THIRD: Forming a watch is one of the best Ideas I have heard from this place since I moved in 2 years ago. Just because you live in an apartment doesnt mean that EVERYTHING is going to be taken care of for you. If you lived in a house youd have to deal with the vandelism and break in on your own. Be a Freakin adult! |

SH2004, you must live in one of the better or nicer buildings, you have not experienced the break-in problems on the first floor that other people seem to have in the complex? I think it does matter what section of Scotch hills you live in or request, I agree with you on the electric and gas bill, the only thing that would make it worse is it you have to pay a Co-pay for your auto once it is broken into or if you have to pay for your stuff that was stolen out of your apartment on top of the higher electric bills that will be coming. I have heard the Appleby apartments are nicer and have gotten rid of the troublemakers and sent them over to our complex.

I dont think appleby is as good as people have said it is. The wall are so thin, that you can SMELL what the other residents are cooking around you. I know that because I have a friend who does contracting work for the area complexes. I have a 2nd floor, and i can understand concern for 1st floor units. but i heard that you can install your on security system and management wont get mad or anything.

I agree appleby smells like a bad curry dinner but it does not smell like weed or theft. I would rather deal with the bad smell then to have stuff stolen from my apartment and then have the management do nothing about it. I should not have to install a security system, I would think with all the complaints the management would install cameras on certain buildings to keep an eye especially on the ground floor apartments. We should not have to pay for their lack of security. Also a community watch would be good but would it turn the people in the community into a bunch of vigilaties? How about management bucking up since they will not reimburse your co-payments for theft to install some security cameras?
