I am a current resident and its nothing special. There website describing this place as breathtaking and tranquil had me laughing. All the pic's on their website are only in the front of the neighborhood, but if you take a ride around, especially to the back you will see this place is falling apart. The units in the back have siding, gutters & shingles falling off and laying in the yard without the workers picking it up. The decks are warped and rotted with massive carpenter bee damage. Only the front units have new decks. There are broken beer bottles on the sidewalks along with drug baggies littering the sidewalks as well. The units that are faced to the woods have to look at trash that is littered throughout the perimeter. Also some units have had gang graffiti sprayed on the side of some units that have been there for at least 5 months without cleanup. On warm days/nights you can look at your window and expect to see the kids fighting in the parking lot. The unit we moved into the 1st day had old/dirty carpet, fixtures that aren't secure and the list goes on. They give you a sheet to fill out which has to be turned in the first 2 days for everything that is wrong with the unit. I suggest writing down every small detail, so when you move out they can't say that you caused the damage and stick you with the bill. The local county police do make a lot of appearances everyday. There is a sex offender living in the neighborhood, so if you have children make sure they tell you, if not ask them. Just go to the sex offender registry website for the info on who. Stay away from the back units of 117. Those are where the worst tenants are. Its dirty in front of that unit with beer cans and cigarettes. On occasion you will smell marijuana in the air from nearby tenants, with some which have kids. I have personally seen 2 drug deals go on in front of the office. The middle units have paper thin walls due to bedrooms being up against each other. You can actually hear you neighbors talk like you were right there. The appliances are outdated and constantly have to be repaired. The tennis court, oh wait that is in shambles. Some tenants have no respect to other people so you will here rap music at all times blasting from their friends car or their own. Their are also a lot of illegal immigrants here. There is a guy from that drives around and puts new stickers on the illegals cars to make them legit. The staff and maintenance workers are heavily rotated or replaced which everybody will know that is not a good thing. I do say make friends with the maintenance employees as they will give you the low down on this place. Before you decide to move, talk with some tenants for their insight.

Sounds about right. Management is poor, they hold back your deposit, not paying the refund due on time if you move out of state, and the manager tells you to file in court of you do not like it. Hard to do from 3,000 miles away. I personally knew all of the maintenance crew, all good people, but they can only do what they are allowed to do. Poor management, a sex offender, drug deals (yes, there were drug dealers living right next door to my unit for a while) along with windows needing replacement made this a very poor choice to live in. Since moving out of state, I have been able to find a place that really cares. It is really amazing how well a manager that is a) effective, b) honest in her dealing with her tenants and c) responsive to the community is able to run a large operation. Two pools, two tennis courts (yes, people actually play tennis here), a large club house with a fire place, covered parking and apartments with catherdral ceilings, fireplaces, good windows, working appliances and NO RENT INCREASES along with a MONTH TO MONTH AFTER THE FIRST YEAR at the same rate as our first months rent make this heaven. Scotch Hills is HELL. Rent at your own risk. ANd to the primary manager, yes, you are an ass hole ... feel free to respond. It is too bad that I can not place your name out here. But you hide behind the apartment manager, she did agree with me that you were binding her hands in the rent deposit refund ... but I assume that since she needed a job, it does not pay to go against your boss. Too bad, she might be effective if she worked for someone that allwed her to manage, instead of being a puppet on your strings.
