Move here if you're desperate...

When I moved here, I was told that the complex was under new management and it was a much better place to live. I would hate to know how much worse it was before. First, the good news. I did move in on a special and I felt the rent was low. Upon entering my apartment, I was even surprised to see I had new carpet, a "remodeled" bathroom, and all new appliances. However, when I called the office during my first week?s stay to comment on how badly the floor squeaked (tip-toeing doesn?t help), their response was "are the people below you complaining'" When I said no, they let me know that nothing would be done about it. Okay, fine, I thought. I moved in during the fall so the crowds of drunken men weren?t in full swing. But I did notice something that bothered the hell out of me. Every Saturday and Sunday- come rain, shine, snow or otherwise, a man would drive his van to each dumpster in the complex. I watched him curiously as he climbed up to the edge of the dumpster and proceeded to JUMP IN. I was shocked-- no appalled, to see him literally slice open each trashbag in the dumpster, hold each bag up high and shake out its contents! He was after cans and bottles, of which there are plenty here. I called the office about this a few times. I thought, surely they would want to know about this since they were "under new management". The main leasing consultant I spoke with seemed shocked as well and told me how inappropriate that was, not to mention unsanitary. She thanked me for letting them know and foolishly, I believed something might be done about it. (It was quite embarassing to have friends and family over not knowing if "Fred Sanford" was going to show up). I witnessed this for several weeks and I called the police. They told me they couldn?t do anything about it unless the complex management asked them to step in-a hint, right' Finally, a relative was visiting me and of course, "Fred" came along. My family member, disgusted by what she saw, decided to ask "Fred" why he chose to do that (he does not live here). His response' "The manager knows about it and she lets me do it-- I?ve been coming here for years"! Needless to say, I was stunned and yes, angered.

On to the men who think it?s cool to drink an entire case of beer outside... I hate it. They will lounge on your car like it?s theirs and they start drinking from 8am and don?t stop until LATE in the evening. You have to be careful here, especially if you?re a female, but I have had to tell them to get off of my car or a relative?s car more than once. The summer is very bad as far as the noise and loitering is concerned. I don?t understand how some people let their children play outside until dark-- I would be more cautious. There are a lot of children here and you do have to watch them. I looked out the window one day and saw a boy of about 10 ROCKING my car. I yelled at him to stop and although he immediately did, I wonder why he did it in the first place when number one, he was old enough to know better, and number two, there were plenty of adults around (probably even his parents).

If anyone has been in the newspapers recently, you would know that we have problems here with buildings on fire. One, apparently, was due to arson and I?m not sure of the others. When I moved here 1 1/2 years ago, the cops and fire trucks were here almost weekly. That seems to have slowed some, but I still hate it here. Parking is not so great. Most of the time, I am lucky to find one near my door, where I can keep a watchful eye (oh -- my tags were stolen also. Not sure where, but I wouldn?t be surprised if it happened here). There are many many vehicles here that obviously don?t run, are tagged inappropriately, have flat tires, or are from various other states. You will eventually get towed if you park in a non-parking spot. The office says they are working on it, but that?s been about a year ago since they told me that and I?ve seen no improvement. There are way too many people here whom I don?t believe are actually on the lease. I hate to think there are more than one family living together, but I have heard that and I don?t know why else there are SOOOOOOO many cars here. One of the folks who posted here said you can?t get the address for the management company-- they are right. You can?t even TALK TO THE MANAGER here without "making an appointment". It doesn?t take a fool to see that this place is crap. My family members don?t like to visit me because they?re afraid of what might happen to their vehicles or they?re afraid another fire will start and someone will be seriously hurt. I am fortunate in that I have found a nice apartment to move to until I buy a house. I have read the reviews for my new apartment on this site and I feel I am making a good decision based on the great comments I?ve read about them. If you are considering Admirals Club, you can?t say you weren?t warned. Just call the local police department and ask them about the type of complaints they?ve received in this area (or the fire department). Don?t be sucked in for the low rent because your safety and peace of mind is worth more.
