I've been a tenant going on 6 years now. I've made the best of my living arrangements. I've got to say that overall the neighborhood is pretty rough, but in my building it is alright. I do feel unsafe in the building and my apartment because there are no locks on the building door.
Management does not live up to their word. Brenda Anderson, the property manager is a big azz liar. I was promised new carpeting, and a fresh paint job after 5 years of tenure. It never happened-- I don't know if it is because I'm black, or a female, or on sec 8 now (wasn't for first 4 years) but they painted and re-carpeted my hispanic neighbors apartment right under my nose-- and we moved in the same time 5 1/2 years ago. And Check this out-We are under the same management as Harbor Club and they all got new windows--they must of ran out of money because they put new windows in about 5 buildings in our community. They promised and promised us new windows, and here we go again, another drafty winter and a high azz heating bill. Needless to say I gotz to crank up the a/c in the summer because of the bad windows. They need to re-do all flooring in the apartments. I live on the 2nd floor, and the neighbor's above me floors creek and squeak with every step. They have got to do better at renovations.
I'm not a big complainer, but I feel there is favortisim between office staff (maintenance)/tennants. Certain tennants can get certain things. I must not be one of their favorites. I feel slighted mainly because I'm not calling maintenance for every little thing and also because I make sure things are kept up on my end. I only have one child.
If it wasn't for my credit I would of been moved out. I've got to make the best out of this until I clear up my situation.
I would recommend this apartment development for someone who needs an apartment with just o-kay credit.
I don't recommend this community because of the shabby upkeep of the apartments and the staff.

Dear SoTiredOfThisPlace and to others who live at Admirals Club Apts who deserve better: As a former resident, I can empathize with you! I am appalled that living conditions haven't changed! Every now and then, I happen to be on the Newark side of Kirkwood Hwy and I glance over to ACA- I see they've done a little painting to the outside of the buildings (at least to those I can see from the road). I often wonder if things have improved. I see from comments that they haven't and I wonder when something is going to be seriously done (like the buildings demolished). I was reading all the comments on the website from over the years and I came across one that made me think, "hmmm- couldn't have said it better myself". Then I realized that it was I who wrote it!!! ("Anonymous- 3/7/2004") I did forget to add back then how one time I was finishing my laundry in the laundry room and was eating from a box of Cheez Its. About 3 little Mexican kids (and I mean no older than 7-9) came up to me and asked if they could come to my "house" for dinner. I politely told them that would not be appropriate and was just about to warn them about asking strangers such things when one of them decided they would just steal my box of crackers! Those little buggers stole my Cheez-Its and took off! I was too stunned. All I could do was shake my head. That was almost 4 years ago- I wonder what became of those baby thieves.
Anyway, my real reason for writing this time is to say that I moved to ACA because at the time, my credit was poor and that was the first place that accepted my application. Since then, I was able to improve my credit, save a little money and move to another apartment. Last spring, I bought a house- not the biggest, most expensive house in Delaware, but it's comfortable and attractive, and most of all, it's SAFE. (I've said a lot of "I"s here, but I do need to give credit where it is due and that credit belongs to God. Without Him, I would not have secured the better paying job and the overall favor in order to be able to break away from ACA.) I pray that each one of you who are trying to do things right, are able to break out of that place soon. My situation seemed impossible at the time, but I didn't stop believing I could do better. Please keep your head up and keep working hard. Obviously, ACA will not get any better, but you can. Keep the faith and good luck/many blessings.

What the hell happened to AC? I spent some of my childhood there, from the age of 10 to 16. I moved in with my mother about a month before I turned 16, but my 2 brothers and father continued living there for another 7 years. 42 Fairway was our spot from 1990 till 2002.
Now, for those who tend to be over sensitive, I suggest you stop reading this now.
I'm a white girl, and when I lived in AC, there was nothing to fear. For the majority of the time I lived there, my family received more respect than most. Sometimes people wanted to start ---- with us, especially because of who we were. Once, when 20 black ass punks were standing in the big open lot near the park. They wanted to fight me and my two brothers for some dumb ass ----. We came out and stepped up, but all of sudden nobody wanted to play anymore. If anyone knows, I am the ----- with the golden tits. All the boys, white or black, wanted what I got. That's why I had to fight all you haters. For real though, none of you begger's came even close to touching this. To continue, pretty much the only trouble we had was when someone wanted to act hard, but like I said, act hard. Hey Jiggy, you remember getting your ass beat by a white girl, and you was supposively a strong, black man. You thought you were tough trying to beat up some young kid, when I showed up an choked the ---- out of your ass. If you don't remember who I am yet, well here's more. Fat ass Alicia, your a sucker, and it should of been your ass getting beat on Kirkwood. You should of stepped to me like a real woman, but you know your ass got lucky that night. The boys were out looking for you. What the hell was up with the black girl who didn't have any ankles that came up to me? You should of kept your ass in your apartment. Finally, if anyone remembers the white girl who swug a brief case at that ------- face, holla...
