My fiance and I haven't had a bad run here. We've lived here for a year and are planning to move out in a month or so to a house we are buying. Our apartment was perfect when we moved in, brand new carpet/paint/cabinets and everything was very clean. We are lucky and have pretty good neighbors, but I have seen a lot of sketchy people walking around and have noticed suspicious cars parked like they are buying drugs from one of the apartments. Our second month here there was a shooting at a building nearby and there have also been 2 major fires, one of which is suspected arson related to drugs. So, this place isn't entirely safe, but we have never been hasseled or anything. The staff has always been very accomidating so far, but we'll see how much of our deposit comes back....

You are one of the lucky ones. The complex pulled a bate and switch on me. They told me that my apartment would be just like the model but as a one bedroom. They refused to show me my apartment claiming someone was living in it. About a month before I was to move in, I found out about it's past reputation as Strawberry Run and called them. They assured me they had cleaned it up. I asked to see my apartment again and this time I was told they were working on it and so I could not legally see it. Turns out no one had lived in my apartment for over a year and when I got into it, it was nothing like the model, with nothing renovated like the signs, or the website or the model. As well, I spent the first 4 days without any electricty because they never even checked my apartment out. They pacified me for the fist month and told me I would get my new cabinets and they would fix everything. Then 2 months goes by and I am told, I will never ever get new cabinets. My list goes on and on, from a sliding glass door that fell on me, and which I repeatedly 6 times reported to them was bad; to a leaking shower stall that literaly left my bathmat so soaked after one short shower that I could ring it out; to my cabinets literally falling apart and they are still not replaced; to an oven that took me 4 complaints about it giving third degree burns off of the door. I am a very quiet tenant and only live in my apartment 4 days a week as I own a home in another state. I have no criminal record, no disturbing the peace, no complaints logged against me by any of the tenants, yet I received a letter stating that the complex was refusing to resign a new lease with me. No, reason sited. But my attorney believes it is because I complained and reported them to Code Enforcement who gave them 7 code violations on my apartment alone. He feels they are trying to retaliate. They also did this to my neighbor who has several lawsuits pending against them, one of which was for them refusing to repair his heat for 18 days in the dead of the winter, just after Christmas. Now one of the reasons I think some of the tenants have no problems is because there is a man living in the home. I know this because one of my neighbors moved in with many of the same issues I was having. When she complained they did nothing, but as soon as her husband/fiance went down to the office and complained, they were at their apartment immediately, giving them new kitchen cabinets, new counters, repainting and something else with the rugs. I think because I am a woman alone down here with a child, they tried to take advantage of me. I think this is also why you did not have a problem. You have a man who went down and complained. I could go on and on with the problems I have had but it is not going to change the situation. Chelsea on the Square is run by people who are only interested in one thing, unloading that property as quickly as possible. In case you did not know, this property was purchased as a distressed property that was supposed to turned around and resold two years later. They have had it for 6 years because they cannot get rid of it. They really do not care about it or the people who they allow to reside there. They just want it to look filled and full, even if it means letting criminals and druggies into the complex. Sorry but that is the truth.
