Wish we had seen these reviews before we signed the lease!

We tried to convince ourselves that the negative reviews were exxagerated, but unfortunately they're not. We signed a lease for an apartment with a washer/dryer, only to get a phone call THE DAY BEFORE WE MOVED IN telling us our apartment did not have them. We were promised that this would be resolved, but they still haven't even begun to do any work. They told us they wanted to put us in a different apartment because it had better carpeting and linoleum; if ours is "better," I'd hate to see what the other ones look like. The carpet IS extremely thin, it's filthy, ours has an iron-shaped burn in it downstairs and even had a chewed piece of gum stuck to it upstairs! The whole apartment was extremely dirty when we moved in. It is also VERY small with only two small closets. Tonight was our first rainstorm, and rain leaked in all around the top of our front door. We called the "emergency" maintenance number, and about an hour later a guy called back and said he was too busy with more serious problems to do anything about it tonight. He said they would come tomorrow; I told him we have been waiting ALL WEEK for maintenance to come for other problems, and he replied, "Yes, ma'am, I know all about Foxcroft." Let that be a warning to us all. We are having serious RENTER'S REMORSE. I wish we had known how bad it was going to be...but at least I hope this information can help other people before they make the same mistake we did.
