Nice..but...

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2008
First off, this used to be English Village and there was a here Murder, but it was a one time thing. I believe the final report on that was that drugs were involved. It has been years since then and the complex has changed owners since then and they have improved the place.
We enjoyed most of our first year, but we had horrible neighbors move in down stairs just after we renewed our lease. Noise, screaming kid, loud continuous music, and rude. They slam their doors so hard that it has cracked and chipped the corner spackle in our living room above their door, something I assume we will be responsible for. We can hear them through the 1 foot concrete floors. We have complained several times, to them, to the office and to the police, but nothing effects them. They continue their uncouth and disrespectful manners. But really, unless they are breaking some serious rules there is nothing the office can do unless they do not pay their rent. Our pipes make noises and at one point LOUD BANGING NOISES. They have tried to fix them but they still squeak LOUD EVERY MORNING AT 6:30 when the first person gets up and takes a half an hour shower. So much for sleeping in EVER!!!!
But we are in 1 of MANY buildings and have never had issues as far as break-ins or crime in the area, which has seemed to clear up with the "Criminal Background check" for all renters. The office is helpful and maintaince is quick and effective compared to other places I have lived. The area is nice and quite aside from our downstairs Trolls. The units are clean and we have no issues with heating/air conditioning as the windows/insulation seem efficient.
READ YOUR CONTRACT!!! If you have to move early (found a new job out of state), you still have to pay $1500 even if you give 2 month notice. Usually a complex will let you leave w/ out issue under this circumstance, but this place states in the lease that "Only if you are RELOCATED BY YOUR EMPLOYER" can you break your lease. This makes it unfair for the renter as you do not have the ability to take a better job offer unless you are willing to pay out $1500.
...and if you have cats, they must be DECLAWED, which I personally feel is inhumane if above 6 months of age and can seriously cause psyco-trama to an adult cat. The pet deposit is MORE THAN ENOUGH to cover cost of any damage to carpet.
