Park Place

 

This place is run so dysfunctionally that it makes me laugh.

Problems:

Squirrels scamper through my walls.

False advertising--someone should seriously sue.

No pool, no gym, no Internet.

Can they do that'!



The light in the basement where the laundry room is has been out for weeks (I feel worse for the people who live down there, of course).



Our kitchen randomly smells like cat (We dont have any pets).



On "party nights," its impossible to get a nearby parking space.

They never enforce the permit rule.

And given the lack of lighting outside (and recent muggings), I feel unsafe walking across the complex.



The office staff is clueless.

Seriously.

I think dealing with all of the non-English-speaking residents stresses them out, which is understandable, but they are patronizing toward everyone, and have yet to address any of our problems (getting our lock replaced, the squirrels, etc.)



Phone service has been on-and-off for some reason, but I guess this is a Verizon issue.

The fact that two buildings were without water earlier this week, however, is not.

The brown water and accompanying chunks for the rest of the day proved less than thrilling as well.



Good stuff:

Its not all bad here.

Rents reasonable, the location is decent, and the apartment itself looks pretty good (carpets were pretty new when we moved in, paint looks alright, etc.) The neighbors arent particularly social or friendly, but are generally quiet.

Cable TV/high-speed Internet has worked out well.



Honestly, I dont hate living here, because I am a poor college student and have a sense of humor, and generally for the money, the apartment itself is pretty nice in appearance.

In other words, when Im in my apartment, I dont feel like Im living in as messed up of a place as I am, so thats super.
