Welcome to HELL

Wasn't that a phrase in a Clint Eastwood movie' Yeah, High Plains Drifter... Anyway, it applies to this complex. When I first drove through the complex I liked the area, and they appeared to be fairly clean apartments. Do not be fooled! These buildings are the worse pieces of crap every built. The walls are so thin you can hear your neighbors screwing, taking a bath, putting groceries away, or you can listen to their whole conversation and understand every word, or you can forget your TV, just listen to theirs. The floors are even worse. There is not one ounce of insulation or soundproofing in the entire ceiling/floor areas. The carpet padding is so pathtic and thin you'd swear the carpet was laid right on the plywood flooring. When they did replace carpeting in a few units, I noticed that they did not change the padding! The carpet in my first unit was nice in spite of the fact that someone had taken art school on it, and cut slits in it with a razor. When my ignorant noisey neighbors upstairs came in at 2AM drunk, and started partying on, I knew about it. Then I had to endure the guys snoring, yes I heard it through the damn floor!! Paybacks were a few slams of my kitchen cabinet doors and they were up like a bomb went off wondering what the hell happened. Did I mention that this happened just about every night' Yah. Before my first week was up I had composed, at 3AM in the morning, a letter of complaint and demand for cancellation of my contract and/or to be moved to a third floor unit. At this time, the office manager was a decent person, and she agreed to allow me to move to a third floor unit immediately. So now we are in apartment number two. The carpet was so thin and worn I was sure that it was the original carpeting, and it smelled. Just inside the front door it looked like someone swapped out their Fords differential there, and the oil spilled everywhere. The refridge did not work and I lost all of my refridgerated food before I realized that it did not work. It took three days to get a new refridge and it was a lefty so I had to bump my rear up on the counter to get the door open, sweet. After another week, they did swap it out for a righty, and it was a new unit right out of the box. Wow. The bathroom looked like it was repaired 300 times by someone with the local division of the blind. Every chrome piece was pitted beyond cleaning. Caulk and goop was all over the floor and fixtures, and the floor was so filthy I had to scrub it with steel wool soap pads to get it presentable. The sink was burned in a dozen places by cigarettes. The kitchen floor was cut in several places and curling at the edges. Nice avacado color too. My hands stuck to the cabinets and countertops. The front door had been busted down at one point and never did close properly. From the day I moved in (In June) the Air Conditioning in the Living Room did not work. It took until October to get that vent problem fixed after I threatened to withhold rent payment. Cable TV was a small private contractor, that was your only choice, and they offered a whopping 27 channels, yahoo. Parking was pathetic. If you did not leave work early (3PM) and get straight home, you were lucky you got a spot in your buildings lot. We had a resident who was quite healthy and capable, yet ignorant, who constantly parked in the handicapped spot. We had an aged resident with a handicapped tag, and she often had no place to park in her own lot. People came and went all day and night. Many times they were dumping their trash in our dumpsters, other times they were just partying and hanging out at all hours in the parking lots. I never did ever sleep in the bedroom in that apartment. I was never comfortable or felt safe there, and I'm a large male. My second unit backed up to a road and I could never open the slider day or night because of the speeding cars, and noise from junk cars, trucks, and motorcycles constantly going up and down that road. That with the broken A/C unit made my place a nice little oven at night. When ever one of the foreign neighbors made their spicy smelly meals, the stench permeated the entire building. Then management personnel changed, and we got the arrogant attitude, even when you were just stopping in to pay your pennance. Forbid you should attempt to ask a question or place a complaint. The head office screwed up my account constantly losing my payment posting, but they sure as heck cashed that check. Then it was MY responsibility to prove to them that I had paid!! My bank threatened to start charging me for copies of cancelled checks that I needed to prove that I had paid my rent and on time. Morons!Unbelieveable! Should I go on' OK, one more thing. Then they decided that they would do without the tennis courts and the could fit a few more buildings in on the property. Out went the tennis courts, and in came the constant parade of dump trucks and machinery. Dust, dirt, debris all over the place. The asphalt got so busted up that the ruts and holes in the entrance drive and parking lots got so big that they could have swalloed up a small car and surely ripped up your suspension. I was truly suprised that none of the parked vehicles ever got hit or damaged. Enough!! I think you get the picture. If I had to describe this complex in two words I definitely have to say: "S**t Hole". Nuff said....
