Management is rude, inconsiderate, and unhelpful

I applied for a townhouse in this complex, after I went through the entire process of applying and laying down a hold fee, they told me I was approved. We got all excited. Then they said they made a mistake and "accidentally put me in the approval pile when I was supposed to be denied. Then in the process of sending me a denial letter they lost my security deposit check, which now I have to pay to cancel. I think it's pretty obvious this office has no organization to speak of. Furthermore, when they told me after already being approved that I was declined. They called me in the middle of a work day and showed no compassion whatsoever. The leasing agent actually hung up on me while I was crying and acted like a total heartless witch... for lack of better words. Since then I have found a nicer townhome for a better price. I also looked at Several townhouses privately owned for cheaper in Barrett's Run.

I completely agree with this person. My experience with the management office was terrible. When we moved out, they even tried to charged us for problems in the apartment that were already there when we moved in. Thank God we had a copy of our move-in check list so we are able to prove that those problems were already there.

You've never lived in the complex, so it's unfair and immature to rate the safety, noise, etc. And it is not the job of the staff to kiss your butt because you didn't get the townhouse...you were denied for a reason...Bad credit? Poor renting history? Grow up.

Lillady77 is obviously the immature one. All you were doing was stating your opinion and I thought you handled it well. I'm sorry you didn't get the place you wanted--that's a shame. I'm glad it all turned out for the better. I have been in this complex to apply and I like the area from what I saw--but I have to keep in mind it IS Delaware. I can see how the management is very unorganized as well. I tried to make an appt. since I have a set working schedule and I needed to show my roommate what I found (of course I was all excited on the phone) within a certain time limit and the lady said "Well we can't make any promises we take care of people as they come in." I am a business professional, she obviously is not. Glad things worked out for you though!

Your opinion does not belong here if you have not lived at the apartment. I am looking for a new apartment, and I would like an accurate review from someone who has lived here--not someone who is bitter.

I totaly agree with this comment. Its unbelivable but I have been through the same experience. We submitted everything they asked and they told us everything will be ok and even told us a day to move in. Two days before the move, when we already left our old apartments they told us they made a mistake. They were very rude and not willing to help. I have lived in apartment complexes all over the U.S and have never saw such unprofessional stuff and service. DONT GO!!!!

Okay, I have lived there! These people are not lying, the mgmt. called us approved us and reconstructed the lease while our things were on the truck outside of the house and we had no choice but to comply with what they did! I kid you not about this! I've lived in several states and never had I experienced this. My husband was furious but we were in a jam at that point and had no option but to comply with this new lease, there was some sort of stipulation in the first one that they could make any changes up until we took possesion of the unit even after we signed the first one in the office! Ofcourse we would have never agreed to the second lease. It's a nice community, I have children and I was primarily concerned about an area I could feel safe about them being in. I'll give the area credit for that. The place has all the perks your looking for as far as modern things etc. I will admit that the staff will turn on you if you complain. Now, they are helpful and pleasant, as long as you don't come to them with a complaint about something they've done. So what do I suggest? Take heed to what's been said regarding the leases and the staff. The place itself, I have no problem with.

I thought the staff was very nice when I had went in to check out an townhouse there.. The complex is beautiful and I was hoping to put in an application soon! This stuff really scares me though. I had rented in the Vining at Christiana in the past.. ( not so great of an area) and the person that is the leasing manager now at Barrets Run was the leasing manager of The vinings when I lived there. I think she is a nice person and she will change the office for the better. Maybe the manager wasn't doing a great job and they moved her in to get it fixed. She is firm though and doesn't take crap.. Maybe because she use to manage a property that had a lot of bad apples! I hope someone can give a better rating to the management though cause I would love to live in a classy development and feel good about my community.. but not at the expense of dealing with drama. Anyone else that lives there, that doesn't complain about much, and is a professional person have any good ratings, or bad? Please help me make my decision based on experience living in the community!! Thanks
