My roommate and I lived here for about 2 years while she was completing her graduate degree. Before we even moved in we had to express in a two page letter the maintenance issues that needed to be corrected in order for us to enter the contract. So right from the start things were bad. During our stay, they assured us time after time that issues with maintenance, billing, etc... were due to new management taking over, and it would soon be remedied. Two years later the attitudes and organization were the same. The buildings here are old. Dont be fooled by the renovations. It is just a shell over top of a falling down building, nothing was structurally changed, just new siding. The studs in our apartment exterior walls appeared to be rotting away when the demo was done before the siding came. Our roof was reshingled as we were moving out, but during our stay we often got rain leaks. They also do the minimum with landscaping, and will only respond when the county is involved or enough complaints are recieved. Grass was cut maybe once every 2 weeks, sometimes longer durations. Expect contractors to work in the apartments as well who do not clean up their messes, or announce their arrival. We had a 5 foot high pile of construction garbage stacked at the bottom of our stairs for nearly a month before they cleaned it up, only after tennant complaints. The contractors and maintenance crew are often more harm than good anyway. I spent more time making repairs to the apartment on my own, fixing problems inflicted by them, than they ever did. We even had a contractor accidentally put a 6 inch hole through our shower wall with a hammer from the outside of the building, so that we could see straight to the outside, and the outside could see in to our shower. They did not even attempt to fix this, and i ended up repairing it myself rather than waiting the week for them and meanwhile not being able to use our only bathroom. We also had pests issues which they would not address. We had squirrels living in the rafters above the apartment and they would scratch at inside vents all day long. We also had insect issues, ants, termites, spiders almost everytime the seasons changed. Do not expect much security here either. They have a security gate, but it was unmanned for the entire duration of our stay. Expect to see police cars in the neighborhood, and expect to call them at least once during any stay here. Finally, beware of billing issues. We have been accused time after time of not paying our rent, when in fact they had already cashed the checks, because of computer and human errors in the billing department. They also have a private propane company working directly with them that has similar billing issues, and we would go months without a bill, and then get 3 bills in three weeks, all of which were overdue when they were received. Even after moving out it took us 3 full months to get back our security deposit and propane deposit, only after threatening legal action in writing, after months of verbal conversation failed. I give them the lowest score possible in all categories for these reasons and more. I can not even give them a good score for parking, because although the lots are spacious and I never had a problem parking, the management has no problem with towing your vehicle without telling you, and they have a deal worked out with a towing company that is very eager for the business and they will look for any flaw in your vehicle so they can tow it away and make themselves a pay check. I strongly discourage living here.
