I Always Felt Okay Here

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
I lived at Village of Windhover for about a year and a half. Although
the apartments are old and the area is a bit run-down, I never
felt unsafe. Out apartment was large and sunny, and the balcony
faced a rolling green field, which was nice. You can walk up
to Governor's Square shopping center (which has a library, a bank,
a K-Mart, a Safeway, and a few other things) from V of W.
Our appliances always worked--the washer and dryer seemed new. Again,
the structure itself is old; no way around it. My roommate could
hear music through her bedroom wall a few times, but I never had
a problem with noise.
One night a very drunk man knocked on our door thinking it was his
sister's apartment, and a guy looking for a ride to Wilmington
was around once or twice. But our neighbor across the landing was
extremely nice, always said hi, and insisted I borrow her scraper
after a big snow. Other neighbors seemed nice also. Maybe my
standards are just low.
The office hours were pretty inconvenient, and the office once misapplied
my rent check and sent us a notice saying we hadn't paid, but we got
it straightened out. We also got most of our security deposit
back.
Lots of cabinet space in these apartments, too; I think it's because
they were built before builders/managers knew how much they could
skimp.
All in all, I never had the frustrating, miserable experiences
that other people did in this place. Don't get that sinking feeling
if you've already decided to move here and then read these reviews;
you'll be okay. You won't be able to fool yourself into thinking
you live at the Waldorf-Astoria, and you'll probably want to move
when you get the chance, but as a place to live when you get on
your feet, it's not bad.
