Sometimes you have to read what people put online here about apartments with some caution. But this is a fact that you can confirm with management. Yesterday, July 19th, there was a flyer put in my door jam stating that it was our 24 hour notice (24 HOUR NOTICE ''') that the entire Vinings complex was being fumigated for cockroaches today. Coming home from work and finding this was not enjoyable. And it stated that the individual units that are "heavily infested" (I guess people know who they are and have complained to management)need to empty out ALL kitchen overhead and lower cabinets, remove all dishes, food, spices, utensils, cooking pans, even empty the bathroom vanity and cabinet beneath the sink. Pets must be removed from the units also. And they said if this doesn't eliminate the COCKROACH INFESTATION then will have to come back and FOG THE PREMISES and you will have to vacate the premises for at least 4 hours. I would think if you lived next door to these units you would be fogged too. Otherwise, the cockroaches would simply move to your unit. How nice an inconvenience !!!!!! The Vinings constant renting to Section 8 has a lot to due with this problem. Then when they don't pay their rent (which is ususally less than 1/2 the regular rent) the answer is simple. Just evict them and rent to more Section 8.THE VININGS IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. THEY HAVE HAD AT LEAST 7 MANAGERS IN THAT TIME ALSO. THEY ALL QUIT DUE TO THE PROBLEMS WITH SECTION 8 TENANTS. LOUD MUSIC, GARBAGE, CRIME, VANDALISM, LOITERING, NOT PAYING RENT, ETC. AND NOW THEY CAN'T AVOID ADMITTING THE WHOLE COMPLEX HAS COCKROACHES. The hired terminator was stated in the letter as Wilson's Pest Control, Bear, DE. I have been here for 2 years and I am told that the security fence has been broken for almost 4 years. Management always says, "it will be fixed next week !!!" The security fence was put after the crime and drugs got so bad they were forced to install it. Now on a temporary basis they have an armed guard patrolling part-time. You tell me if this place is not a GHETTO. I AM MOVING. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l

I don't know about the cockroach problem, but as of today, 1/6/07, I beleive there is no more guard, and the gate STILL doesn't work. After talking to New Castle County, I beleive they are going to just take it down.

I think the people with the roach problem , know who they are...They cook with alot of grease and fry alot..that doesnt neccessarily mean that it is always Sec.8 for this or Sec.8 for that..why always blame those tenants when places with or without Sec.8 are just as bad or worse..people need to just look at the whole picture ..wether you have money or you dont doesnt mean you are a bad person right from the get go..some people need to look in their own backdoors, cause Im sure they're not perfect and have things hidin somewhere.
