Moving on...........
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 2/8/2005
Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005
I'll start with the good stuff about Arbor Pointe:
- Pretty large one-bedroom apartments
-Nice amenities (dishwasher (I guess it would be nice if it actually worked), w/d in unit, balcony exit from living room and bedroom - which allows plenty of sunlight)
-assigned parking- it's nice to know you will have a parking spot no matter what time you get home (but they are getting rid of assigned parking - which I think is a terrible idea)
-I like the bathroom set up - separated tub and toilet from the sink and plenty of vanity space
-large Eat in Kitchen with a pantry.
-Close to Kirkwood Highway, Limestone road, I95 and 141
-Close to the stores (Christiana mall is about 5 minutes away).
Ok- now for the not so good stuff:
-THERE IS MOLDING and I am concerned for my health)
-The appliances are very outdated - my refrigerator is on it's last leg and has been since I moved in - it never worked quite right but the office refused to give me another one. The microwave is so old it's scary! But it does work - I'm just afraid that one day it'll blow up! They definitely need to replace my stove - it has to be from the early 1970s. Every time I go into the office - I think it's hilarious how they have the new updated appliances and the appliances (at least in my apt) are embarrassingly old (false advertisement).
-The noise is awful! The walls are extremely thin! During my first year I had some really inconsiderate neighbors (a couple that lived above me). I live on the second floor and when I first moved in the neighbor in the apt. above me would do aerobic exercises at 5:30am. My entire apartment would shake. She had the nerve to have an attitude when I told her she was disturbing my sleep. I was so happy when they moved out! But I soon realized that they weren't the only source of the overbearing noise level. Even with the people above me gone I can hear noise from all over- people walking ,TVs, arguments, alarm clocks. I can even hear the cat of the neighbor above me! I can hear it walk back and forth all day long. For me to be able to hear a cat running back and forth all day is ridiculous.
-Although parking is ok for me now - it wasn't always. Be aware when you move in that you may not receive the correct parking spot number. I would hope that if you do get the wrong number that the person is considerate enough not to block you in by parking behind you. That's what happened to me - The office gave me a parking spot that belonged to one of my neighbors and the idiot parked behind me and did not move his car until the next day (which was a Monday) around 2pm. I was stuck and had to call out of work that day. I was pissed and I let the idiot know how pissed I was (that's another story!). Even after this horrible experience the office gave me another wrong parking spot number and another neighbor knocked on my door at 9pm asking me to move my car (not that I blame him - I would have done the same thing). I finally got the right parking spot number after about a week.
-Poor lighting in the parking lot at night.
-The office staff of the old management was much nicer than the new office staff. If you are going to the office for anything other than dropping off your rent check - they can be a little rude. The communication sent out by the office is the worst Ive ever seen. Without going into detail their horrible communication cost my boyfriend $150 because they had a tow truck tow his car from the visitors parking about 30 miles away!.
The reason I'm moving out of Arbor Pointe is because the rent has increased from $725 to $825 - that's a big jump in 2 years. I just dont feel the apartment is worth that much.
