I have lived here for almost a year on the 5th floor in a one-bedroom apartment. I came here to attend law school and wanted a quiet, roach-free place, at least on the 2nd floor with a balcony.

When I first moved in, the place was clean, new rugs, and freshly painted. All appliances in good working order.

It is fabulously quiet. There is concrete between the floors. When I'm in my apartment, I feel as if I'm on a private island. Great for studying, relaxing and is peaceful.

Neighbors are all very courteous. Many are elderly. I recommend keeping up apartment insurance; however, as one of the elderly persons burned a chicken on the stove causing a huge fire scare a few months ago. Never know what could happen.

I love the large screened-in balcony porch. Great for my BBQ.

Caveat - the apartment complex on top of the hill is ghetto. Sometimes, some of the young children wander down, presumably in want of something better. They buzz people's door to attempt to gain entrance. Just don't ring anybody in you're not expecting. I've heard of a few instances of vandalism from them, but nothing major. The management here has taken prompt and proactive steps to keep them out.

I come and go all hours of the night and, so far, haven't feared walking from my car to the apartment entrance.

I have only seen one roach the entire time I was here. Probably from an incoming family. The management is really good at exterminating. Occasionally, a little bug might make its way in through the screening on the porch if you leave your sliding glass doors open like I do all the time.

The laundry rooms are clean, and seldom in use.

One thing I don't like is the hall outside my apartment stinks. They should replace the cork board with something that doesn't absorb odors, i.e., cooking odors from cultures you're not used to. I keep painter's tape up around my interior door to keep the stink out, which works just fine.

The management is on top of things, repairs, etc. They're very prompt and courteous.

The entrance and hallways aren't top-notch in elegance by any standard. If they were to do simple cosmetic renovations, they could charge a lot more for these apartments.

One time I accidentally gave them a rent check from an account that I had closed months ago. A week later, I realized my mistake and gave them a check from my existing account, and they pleasantly accepted it without hassle.

I had a cell phone delivered here that UPS claims was delivered. Not sure what happened there. Haven't had problems with any other deliveries, though.

One neighbor moved in with a dog. I don't know why people move into apartments with dogs and think they can lock them outside on the balcony while they're away. The dog ends up barking all day. I got sick of hearing that neighbor's dog barking and called the management. I don't know what they did, but problem immediately resolved.

Overall, this is probably the best apartment experience I've had anywhere, except for my garden apartment across the street from the ocean in Southern California. If and when I move from here, it won't be due to dissatisfaction with my apartment or the management.
