I can't wait to move out!

I have lived here for a year and cannot wait to get out of my lease. At first, I thought the apartments looked great. However, I was quickly disillusioned. The overall apartment is poorly insulated which translates to high electoric bills to cool and heat the place. Also, noise from neighbors, dogs is often heard. The elevators are CONSTANTLY broken. I usually spend a good 10 minutes waiting for the elevator in the morning. The surrounding neighborhood is completely dead! There are no more than 4 semi-decent restaurants in the area and almost all of them are closed on the weekend. Crime seems to proliferate in the area as well. I recently heard of a tenant who was mugged on his way to his car. This is not an isolated incident as crime reports suggest that downtown Wilmington is one of the most dangerous areas in the United States! Poverty and gang-related activity are high. In general, the REsidences at Rodney Square look decent on the surface. But, once you get passed the surface image, you will find a depressing neighborhood, a noisy apartment, an overpriced rent, and a rude leasing office. Please stay away! Don't let looks, or a fast talking rental agent, deceive you!
Also, I noticed that the people that gave the apartment good ratings were temporary tenents. Thus, I would not factor in their opinion as most of them are transient business people who reside for a very short time in the apartments.

I completely agree with all of the statements above and I was a short-term tenant! I never felt safe unless I was in the apartment. You can't even find coffee on a Sunday morning!

This sounds like an alarmist review from someone who's never lived in a city before. I am a long-term resident here and have never waited more than two minutes for an elevator. Sometimes one of the three elevators is broken, and it has happened quite frequently as of late; still, I've never waited 10 minutes. The freight elevator is very quick and I take it quite often.
Yes, there aren't many restaurants/things open on the weekends, but that's not really the fault of the apartment community. Our apartment is not noisy and I don't hear dogs barking - never have actually.
As far as crime is concerned, I feel quite safe walking around the neighborhood. "Crime reports suggest that downtown Wilmington. . ." - who cares! This is crap. Read the crime reports before you move to an area if you're that concerned; again, not the fault of the apartment community.
Again, I am a long-term resident and am giving the apartment community itself a great rating. Also, Market Street is on the upswing, getting rehabbed, and in the next year to two years, it's going to be a new downtown. Read all the negatives in this review I'm responding to and the majority of them have nothing to do with the actual building, but the surroundings. People like you who write this alarmist crap make me very tired!

I agree with the last posting---and to get coffee there is a dunkin donuts 2 blocks from the building! As far as crime goes, like any city just use commmon sense and don't wander into areas you aren't familiar with at night. and i've never waited 10 minutes for an elevator
