Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008

my husband and i moved here in march of 2007. immediately the place was 100 times better then the complex we were at previously. The apartments seem newer. The carpeting is actually almost plush, instead of the flat hard doctors office carpet. Appliances are apartment appliances, old and outdated, but still work pretty well, I've never had any problems with any of them. I live in a 2/2, upstairs unit. I love having the screened in balcony and the tall windows in the bedrooms are actually very nice. Our apartment has mock wood floor linoleum and looks very nice. The master bath is small, but at least its separate from the guest. The kitchen only has one sink, downside for me, I love double sinks. Stove is slanted backwards, we can't figure out why except maybe the floor is sunk in' The bedrooms are very good size and so are the living room and dining room. The parking can be irritating sometimes just because its not directly in from of the apartment doors, but no biggy. I wish the stairs had awnings over them for when its raining. I have a 6 month old and it would make me feel a lot better and safer to have dry stairs to walk up and down on.
Now for my complaint, and it really only stems from 1 thing. On July 2 our ac stopped working. We went to drop off our rent and told D. that our AC wasn't working and she said she would put in a work order. By Friday the 6th no body had been out so I called and got Susan the manager. She said there was no work order (which i told her we spoke with D. face to face) she said she would have somebody out there soon. I can't remember if it was that day or Mon. (i was 8 m. preg. give me a break) but they came out and said it was working just fine and that there would always be a 20 degree difference from outside and in. So, i said if its 80 outside its not going to get below 100 in here' Stupid. I had them keep coming out until July 27 when i went into labor, so nothing was done for about 5 days. When we got home from the hospital we had fans on everywhere. They would replace this and replace that and nothing! finally when my son was only 10 days old they finally started testing the "big ticket items". By this time my emotions were running high. I actually kinda yelled and cried to the after hours phone people b/c my son was actually sweating and i didn't believe there was any reason for a 11 day old baby to sweat at night. We actually had to take all of our stuff for the baby and us and my mom who was spending a couple of weeks with us to the model apartment. Now the ac was working good in there, we actually got cold! Anyways, during the entire time Susan the manager was coming up with things like "the lamp in your living room puts out a lot of heat" (what else was i suppose to use for light') and "well i will come up there to see how it feels myself" (i guess my word isn't good enough') Anyways, they finally had to replace the entire unit inside and out. Works great now. Greg the maintenance man at the time was awesome and had to work in 90-100 degree weather replacing the outside unit and inside with just a fan we gave him to use.
So, there you go. Its long, but that was that. If the management had put the OK on replacing the unit to begin with, i don't think it would have cost them as much in the end. All in all, if my hubby and son and I were not moving out of the area we would stay here. Its a great area. Pretty quite and its funny listening to the baseball games!

Very true, Susan will place the blame on you anytime she can! Watch out for Susan, she'll lie with a smile on her face instead of admit the mechanicals of the apartments need replaced. Also watch out for the amount of mold behind the air handlers. It borders on causing mold poisoning.

Hmmmm...placing the blame? Kind of like how it's my fault, I must have put something wet or damp in the cupboards to create the widespread mold growth through-out my entire apartment.

Yeah, and it's my fault my apartment flooded after heavy rain! Susan came to my apartment after I had complained several times, that they weren't doing anything and asked me if i was talking crap about her and her office! Yes Susan! You are a -----! And so are your evil minions in the office! Go back to hell!
